Not flaming, just asking. If you "know" then why do it? Really, I'm not a sh!t disturber and I don't intend for this to be a flame, I'm just curious.

Camden: (English) the suffix is the Old English denu, 'a valley'; the prefix
may be the Old English camp, 'a battle', 'war' (Latin camp-us), or an
English borrowing of the Celtic cam, 'crooked' if not the Old English
camb, 'a crest', 'ridge'.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Then why would you even consider messing with the spelling (assuming the family name is Camden?) I seriously dislike this name no matter the spelling (and dislike it even more on a girl) but if you're going to use a family name, spell it correctly.

I agree with the PP. If it's a family name, stick with the family spelling. Changing the spelling changes the name, thus taking away from the family significance/symbolism.
I'm gonna get a little nosey again. Can I ask if this is a family last name, male name, or female name? If it is/was a male name, I think I'd keep it that way. I get wanting to honor family and I'm totally on board with that, but naming a girl after a male doesn't seem fair to either one of them IMO.
My maiden last name was Leonard. A legit name as well...a male name. Just because it is a last name that is part of my family/who I am, doesn't make it "okay" to use it as a girl name. Nobody would ever expect that we (or anyone in our family) would ever use the name, much less use it as a girl name because of family significance.
If it was a female name, then stick with the way it was originally spelled. Otherwise, it's like saying 'yeah we like your name and it has significance to us, we just don't like how it was spelt for you so we're gonna fix it for us'.
Again, this wasn't meant to cause an uproar of any kind and like I said, I'm all for family names. If it's something your set on then good for you, congrats on having a name. I just think that if you feel it's important to ask not to be flamed by a bunch of strangers on a message bored, then you know exactly what you are getting into with giving you daughter a typically male name. You aren't going to be able ask everyone you come across not to knock your daughters name and explain that it's a family name. Just sayin'.
***side note: As a mother having a boy in no more then twelve days who is STILL looking for a name for him, I may be a little bitter. We've had a very hard time coming up with a boy name and have vetoed many simply for the fact that girls are taking them over***

Neither, it is a boy's name. There are so many beautiful names for girls, why give her a boys name. If you want it for family reasons, just wait til a baby boy comes next.
Re: Spelling for Camden/Camdyn
Burned by the Bear
Not sure I can get behind the idea of this name being "classy"

There is only one way to correctly spell Camden.
