DD goes down for naps easily and very happily. She will talk to her blankie and even laugh and then fall asleep.
At bedtime however, she will scream and shout. We have tried CIO 2 months back and since then she sleeps after about 5-10 minutes of crying. It never got better than that but we thought it may get better.
Today it has been more than an hour. I went in 5 times but she was screaming murder. We have never heard her cry for so long.
DH went inside to walk her to sleep and I came here for suggestions or help.
Please help.
Why would she go down happily for naps but not at night?
thanks
nap: 12- 3 pm
bedtime- 9 pm
wakes up- at 7 am
Does not wake up at night (thankfully)
Re: 1 hr 11 minutes and still crying- help
I'm not sure, but just wanted to say that DD did something similar last night. DH stayed in her room with her, and she cried for about 20 minutes. Even that is unusual for her. Some people suggested she was overtired, so that might be the case for your LO as well.
Could it be teething?
thank you for the reply. i was hoping for at least 1 reply. she does not have any teeth yet but i see no other signs of teething. she is happy for naps. maybe i will try an earlier bedtime tomorrow. i am really at my wits end. i wish i knew what was upsetting her. she finally went to sleep.
I was going to guess over tired or teething or possibly both. The few times LO has acted like that she was teething which kept her up and so she became over tired...We finally settled after getting some teething tablets, motrin, (I'll admit to some Benadryl after 90 minutes of crying) and she finally fell asleep with a teether in her mouth at close to 2 hours.
Good Luck, I hope it quiets down soon...
THIS!
DS goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps through to 7:30 with no wakings. THANK YOU BABYWISE.
Some days he still takes 2 naps, others just one from 1p-3p.
Good luck!
When DD was that age she would be really over-tired on that schedule.
She was going to bed at 7:30 waking up at 6:30 and taking a 1-2 hour nap.
I would say she sounds over-tired. We have had a few nights like that with DD and I let her fall asleep in my arms watching sesame street, and they have always ben nights when she had a very long active day and a late bedtime.
Now that it is the next day I'm sure you figured out something that worked. However, I thought of this idea last night in the middle of the night, and wished I had replied to this thread.
Sometimes my little guy is thirsty! He wakes up crying and nothing will quiet him. Not CIO, not rocking, nada. Then I give a drink of water, he gulps it down and goes right back to sleep.
Good luck.
