Glider - Worth the Cost?

Are they really really worth it guys? I have all white nursery furniture and am having trouble finding a white glider with fabric that will match our nursery. I want a neutral color but what I am finding is too dark. Of course I love the Dutailier Grande at BRU and it's customizable at no additional cost but yowza it is so expensive :( We have tried to keep a pretty moderate nursery budget and this will blow it. So is it worth the $700?

Re: Glider - Worth the Cost?

  • The glider is the one thing I went all out on.

    TOTALLY worth it IMO.

I've logged more hours in my glider than I have in my car.

I've nursed in it, been puked on in it, slept in it, read countless bed time stories and sung a gazillion off key songs.

We spent about that much for our Shermag reclining  glider with ottoman and I've never once regretted it.  And...  I'm CHEAP.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • $700?? Yowzaaa! I got a Dutailer and I think it was around $350-$400. Having said that....YES, they are totally worth it imo! I am sitting on it right now as I'm typing. It is sooooooo comfortable and my dd who is 2, still loves to be rocked in it with a nice book at bedtime. I will use it with the twins too, I'm sure. I love it, it is the most comfortable chair in our house. I used it to rock Lilly to sleep every single day and night. Def. worth it!!!!! I can't stress this enough...feeding baby on the couch or on your bed is not nearly as comfortable.
  • I have an upholstered rocker in the nursery, part of the Best chairs Storytime series. I think it was about $700 for the rocker and ottoman. BEST money I've ever spent. I spend at least an hour a day in it, and often maaaany hours.
  • Totally worth it.  We got the one from the Best chairs storytime series with the ottoman for around $700 too.  I have never regretted it for an instant.
  • We got our for $150 at Walmart.  It is awesome. I could live in this chair.

  • Totally worth it.  I spent $700 for my Best Chair swivel, rocker, recliner and it was worth every penny.  Easily the most consistently used baby item I have - and will be for a long time.  It was big enough for me to tandem nurse the twins in - which meant I lived in that thing for the first 3 months - LOL.  I still use it every day for feeding, rocking them to sleep, reading stories or just cuddle time.  It's so comfy - and definitely everyone's favorite chair to sit in with or without a baby!
  • I think it depends where your nursery is in your house.

We have a ranch, so I always went into the living room while feeding the baby in the middle of the night or during the day.  We have a recliner, and it worked fine.  I would have NEVER used a glider.  But, I know other moms that loved theirs.

  • Have you tried looking on Craigs List? That's where I searched and ended up getting a Dutailer with nursing ottoman for $100 total.

Its in great shape, all I did was wash the cushions in the washing machine/dryer (they weren't noticeably dirty, but I wanted them to be fresh). I'm not a mom yet, but love sitting in the chair already - I think I'm really going to love it even more once baby is here.
