Best thing for grandma to have for overnight stays?

My mom wants to buy a bassinet for the baby for when she stays the night. I was telling her that maybe she should spend a little more money and buy a PnP instead; that way it can be used as a bassinet and also a crib later on. Plus it can fold up and be stored away when baby isn't staying with her.

What do you ladies think? What is the best thing to keep at grandma's for overnight stays? What does your mom or dad have at their house?

    I take our PNP to their house. The only things I keep over there are: diapers, wipes, extra p.j's, a bib and burp cloth. It makes packing easier and if I forget something they are still all set.

    I would highly suggest a pnp over a bassinet, because the baby will grow out of the bassinet and they will have to get something else!

    My parents bought a crib for their house and it's always set up in one of the guest bedrooms. Our baby will be Grandbaby #5, so it gets plenty of use.

    I'd suggest a pnp or a cheap (but safe) crib (if money is a concern). I don't know if you have an IKEA around, but they actually have some suitable cribs, that are affordable. Baby Bargains actually comments on IKEA cribs that they are pretty decent.

    ETA: They also bought an affordable (but well rated) stroller to keep at their house. They keep baby shampoo, washcloths/towels/sheets, toys, books, gates, and other various items around. Ha! They also keep kid shows on the DVR.

    My Mom has a PNP with bassinet at her house and it works great.  I think it would be a waste to just buy a bassinet.  Go with the PNP so your LO can use it longer.  Just get one with a bassinet, not one with a bassinet and newborn napper.

    DD slept in a FP Rock N Play for the first 5 months so when we traveled to Grandmas we brought that.  Later we bought my parents a PNP to keep there.  Works great!

    Both sets of grandparents have a PnP at their homes for DD, along with extra diapers and wipes.  We also have a bouncy chair and a reclining/transitional feeding chair at the IL's, and a infant-to-toddler FP chair at my parents' house.

    Both sets of grandparents have a PNP. DS is getting big for it, so my parents (who keep him overnight often) also bought a crib. When we are over there now we can put both kids to bed (baby in the PNP in one room, DS in the crib in "his" room).

    A bassinet will only be good for the first few months. The PNP can be used for at least 2 years; and it's good for play time in addition to sleep time.

    PnP - my ILs keep one at their place.  We have one here.  My mom has a crib.  Frankly, a bassinet isn't a great choice, because my DD hated a bassinet, but will sleep in a PnP or crib no problemo.

    Another vote for PnP. They grow fast and a bassinet will only last a few months.

    My parents have a crib set-up in my old room and we bought a pnp, specifically for MIL's house since we go over there a ton.

    Babies are in bassinets for *such* a short period...do you really think your LO will be staying overnight much (if at all) during that time? IMO, a bassinet would be a complete waste of money for the grandparents' house.

    A PNP is a much more logical way to go. My parents actually have a PNP and a portable crib. DS sleeps beautifully in the portable crib.

    A basic PNP can run anywhere from $50-100.

    definitely go with a PNP.  she will be able to use it for much longer.

    my daughter won't be spending the night with my mom until she's in a regular bed but my mom has a crib for her for some reason. i would go with the arm's reach cosleeper that also turns into a playard. it can be folded up and stored just like a pack n play but it's less toxic because it's cotton and it comes in solid colors. we use one instead of a crib and it's great. they're usually pretty cheap on amazon, too.
