Hypnobirthing?

I had DS without medication, but would like to try Hypnobirthing this time. Unfortunately, I don't believe we will be able to get into a class. Is there a way to get information and learn techniques without taking a class?

I did hypnobirthing and had a wonderful experience! I highly recommend it! Have you looked into hypnobabies? It's an online course and from what I understand it is a similar approach. A lot of people on here rave about it.

I think the class is very helpful, but if it's impossible to get into one you could read the book:

Also I thought these two CDs were very helpful, the Rainbow Relaxation has two tracks. The first is affirmations which try to give you a positive attitude pertaining to labor and delivery. It's helpful to listen to because it erases some of the negativity surrounding birth and gives you some lines to repeat to yourself while in labor. For example, "Every surge of my body brings my baby closer to me." The second track is meant to be hypnotic and is great for visualization. I used to fall asleep to it all the time (which is fine).

The other CD I would recommend is Comfort Zone. There is no talking it's just music, but recored in a hypnotic rhythm. This is what I listened to the entire 17.5 hours I was in labor. It was very helpful to me.

The book also comes with a CD which I didn't really find as helpful, but I could see how some people would enjoy them.

Im considering trying Hypnobabies ... I just keep hesitating with the pricetag of the program. Now that Im officially out of work and our baby budget is in effect, Ill have to think about it just a bit more!

Definitely look into the hypnobabies course that you do at home. It is very reasonably priced!

also, i teach HypnoBirthing in alexandria. depending on where you are in MD, perhaps my class could work for you. I have openings soon and also do a workshop for moms who are near the end of their pregnancy (assuming timing was the concern about not taking the class).

Thank you all for your help! I'm going to order that book the first poster suggested. The Hypnobabies program looks like something I'd be interested in, but I'm so confused about their website. Where exactly does it give info on the online course?

there's a few posts on here that compare hynobirthing and hypnobabies, so i'd look for those so you can see the difference between the two, though they are similar.

i'm doing hypnobabies since it's a much more in depth program since i'm not taking a class. i think if you could take a class then i'd be more willing to do the hypnobirthing, but a book and 2 cds i just don't think is sufficient. but that's me! lol

also, hypnobabies is cheaper on amazon than the actual website, and check ebay for used copies. you can get it cheaper there. and there is a very high resale rate on it as well so you can resell it when you're done and make most if not all your $ back.

i couldn't get a used copy in the time frame i wanted so i just bought it new, but felt better about that since i know i can resell it for almost what i paid.
