I wake LO up after 5 hours at night. We had our 2 month appt today and the doctor said she should be woken up at night for a few more weeks. She said 8-10 hours straight without eating is way too long for a baby at 2 months old. LO has gained 4 pounds since birth so it's not an issue of weight or anything. She just said to wait a few more weeks.. I'll probably stop waking her around 3 months.
I've heard that once they're back up to their birth weight, you can let them sleep.
My DS has never slept more than 4-5 hours at a time (and even that is rare... usually it's more like 2.5 or 3) so I've never had to worry about waking him up!

I stopped waking after we established that he was gaining well. He doesn't go more than 4-5 hrs a night between eating. He generally eats 1.5-3 hrs during the day.
Like some of the other PP, I stopped waking DD at night when she was back to birth weight. She has only gone 5 hours a few times - more often she wakes me every 3-4 hours. I totally take her lead at this point. BTW, I EBF.

I have never woke DS up during the night, I nurse him on demand. I rarely look at the clock (its on DH's side of the bed) when he wakes to nurse but he typically wakes about 2-3 times during the night. We co-sleep so its much easier for me to rest while he is nursing, I am in school so its really hard to be up all night and function during the day..
We were told to stop after a month - at which point, DS had gained 3lbs. I've also heard back to birth weight, or after 2 weeks. It really varies by who you ask, from my limited experience.
Baby Boy Born 3.15.11. 8lb 9oz, 21.75in.
6 month stats: 20lb 11oz (92%tile), 30.12in.(100%tile - who knew it went over 99th? Which means 100% of other 6 month olds are shorter than mine!)

This is exactly the same for us, except we're FFing now.
