Stolen Bank Card Number

Someone went on a shopping spree with what probably was a copy of my bankcard. They got hundreds of dollars from me and my lovely american bank is not being very helpful. Needless to say I am a blubbering mess because all my bills will be late and I have to postpone my first midwife appointment until this is all sorted out. Could they have picked a more vulnerable target?

    wow, that is absolutely horrible :-( I am so sorry you have to go through this...I would be a wreck!!! I hope your bank can get it all fixed!!!

    So sorry you're going through this. When DH was graduating from highschool he used his Mom's CC (with her permission) to buy a personalized tie (for graduation) off a website. Someone hacked the site and was using her card to purchase hundreds of dollars of stuff and having it sent to a warehouse in Miami! Thankfully though, her bank realized it before her and they were extremely helpful.

    Wow-I'm really sorry to hear that.  Why is your bank giving you a hard time?

    And on a completely unrelated note, my grandmother's maiden name was L'Estrange!

    That sucks! We are actually going through a similar situation! DH's card was used at an ATM in California, where they got $500. I tried to use my card (we have 2 diff. banks btw) and it was denied for a $10 purchase. WTF?

    Turns out in our area (Chicago) someone had tampered with the PIN pads at Michaels stores and stole the card and PIN #s off debit cards. Fortunately my card wasn't compromised, but my bank canceled it as a safety precaution. 

    This story was on the news and everything!

    That is so awful!  I would be a mess too.  I hope that you get everything worked out.

    Thanks everyone for all your well wishes! The bank said I have to wait until the charges clear until they review them and MAYBE reimburse me. Like I would spend ALL of my money in sixteen different places in one day on random things.
