I was just reading the post from J+MS about giving LO bananas! I had no idea that so many people were allergic to them. I have been for many many years (I think my mom gave them to me when I was a baby put probably in small servings or something-since she had no idea that I was allergic until I told her about 10 years ago! LOL). Everytime I mention to someone that I'm allergic to bananas, they always look at me funny. Like I'm some sort of freak of nature for not ever eating banana pudding.
But now I'm feeling normal! Thanks guys!!! ![]()
Do you get the side-eye from others when you tell them you're allergic to bananas?
Andplusalso, my Pedi said to hold off on giving bananas to DD since I'm allergic. So we haven't tested them out yet.
Re: s/o Banana Allergies
I'm not allergic to bananas, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't give someone the side-eye for it. I don't think I'd side-eye anyone who said they were allergic to something.
Banana pudding sounds gross, though. I only like bananas in their normal form or in muffins or bread. I hate anything that is strawberry-banana because it tastes funny.
I know! I always feel like looking at those people like "WHAT?! I can't help what my body is allergic to, Judgey McJudgerson!" But then I also get the people that say "Awwww. That sucks for you. That means no banana bread/muffins/pancakes/banana splits/etc"
But, honestly I had no idea that it was a relatively common allergy.
Allergic to soy, oat, egg, peanuts, and tree nuts
I'm allergic to an additive in pizza dough. In 13 years we still haven't been able to pin-point it, but it's not a pretty reaction. Obviously it's easier to just say "pizza" when people ask me what I'm allergic to. Just imagine all the side-eyes I get.
ETA: My doctor said bananas are one food that very few people are allergic to. I still wouldn't side-eye anyone who is. You can be allergic to anything.
