After researching and playing around with a few CD brands/types, I am 99.9% set on the BumGenius Elementals OS/AIOs. I have found a bulk pricing place that I am going to get them from because it brings the cost per diaper down a few bucks: https://www.thanksmama.com/bumGenius_Organic_One_Size_Cloth_Diaper_Package_24_p/bmg-0016.htm
I was pretty set on getting all white. White just seemed easier, it would look "normal" under Emily's clothes, and I plan on using these for baby #2 and baby #3. Now that I think about it, I'm thinking about making 6 of them the light green grasshopper color and 6 the light yellow butternut color.
What are your thoughts on the CD colors? I mean, that is some of the fun of getting CD's right, the fun colors? Just wondering what others are planning ![]()
Re: Cloth diaper colors?
YES!
Seriously, they are SO cute! I'm getting gender neutral colors: greens, yellows, blues. Although if I'm having a girl I'm going to have a really hard time not buying the pink and purple CDs because they are so adorable.
White is so boring!
You are not crazy. I love doing CD laundry!
Great minds think alike
How many did you register for? I did have the 36 pack....but went down to the 24. Now I'm second guessing that.
Also, for those doing cloth wipes, this lady has some of the CUTEST single ply flannel wipes for cheap: https://hyenacart.com/SMJAE/index.php?c=11
Cute! You are so lucky to have one of each
So 24 diapers worked ok for you? Was the every other day laundry overwhelming?
I always stuffed them after drying so they were ready to go (if you have pockets) found it easier than stuffing before every change.
THANK YOU. This is another thing I see so many different opinions on--how many you really need.
I hope to just get into a rhythm too. Ahh, so excited about it haha
I know--isn't it funny how excited we are about what we're using to contain our kids' poop? I know I am!
Agreed. Seems like 24 is the way to go!
Haha, yes!
We just ordered a bunch of Bumgenius (not the organic ones, but I think they are the same color). We got 2-3 of every color except for Blossom, Zinnia, and Bubble (the pink and purple ones). We're actually have a girl, but we plan on having two kids and so I was trying to stay gender neutral. I figured the variety would be fun. Plus they are super cute.
Also just an FYI, if you aren't set on on organic ones, the regular ones are on sale, it's buy 5 get 1. So the price comes down to $14.50/diaper.
DH just called me to tell me there is a large box of multi colored cloth diapers waiting for me at home...he said "You didn't tell me you were going to put everything from stars to cow print over our sons butt. When I pictured cloth, I pictured white!"
I couldn't stop giggling. He was teasing me, and I am excited to see all the cute stuff.
It sounds like you've decided, but just for fun I'll make an argument against all white: white may get slightly dirty/show wear more than other colors? Like how white t-shirts get kind of dingy sometimes.
I seem to by shying away from yellow baby stuff, diapers in particular because I would want to see pee stains to get them out? Don't know if thats even an issue.
We are just starting to look at covers and will probably do a mix of light-ish solids (like the Grovia Ice Blue) and patterns that are somewaht neutral like owls or dots.
Also rediculously excited about the CD.
Where at? Is it just on their website, or through another retailer? That's a great price for brand new!
I saw this deal, too, on the www.thanksmama.com site. It's a great deal! If I wasn't set on the AIO's I would buy these.....can't beat that price.
We'll always remember our angel baby: BFP 9/24/10, M/C 10/23/10 8w4d
See, I would totally put a pink or purple diaper on my son. He wont know the difference and anyone who has anything to say about it can suck it. We're having a girl though. She'll wear the dark blue BGs.
The way I see it, the cute prints are for mom anyway. I wouldnt do anything overly boy or girl on the opposite sex but pink or purple? Totally.
