Pregnant after a Loss

31week dr appointment and lil mister is breeched

Dr said not to be too concerned yet but I will have the growth u/s in 2 weeks and to see his position. If he doesn't turn by then we will have more u/s to monitor him and then talk about ways to turn him. I didn't think I would be upset by this because I know a lot of people that have had to have a c/s because of breech baby but I kinda am upset. I knew he was breeched because I only feel kicks really low and every couple of ours I get a pointy part of my bump stick up and roll around like he is rubbing the back of his head against my ute. Has anyone been breeched at 31 weeks and have their LO turn?

  • I haven't but mainly because I'm not that far along yet, but all of my good strong kicks have been down low.  I just have this feeling that I am going to be in the same spot you are in, I'll be interested to see what kind of responses you get.

FX for you and LO hon, I hope he flips!!

  • At my 30w u/s LO was frank breech.  At my 32 week u/s she was head down.  Go to spinningbabies.com  they have some different things you can try to get LO to turn on your own.  Good luck!  There is still plenty of time for him to turn.

  • My baby was transverse (sideways) and did not turn by the time I went into labor.

For breech babies, 20-25% under 28w are breech, 7-16% at 32w, and only 3-4% at term so you still have a good chance of turning spontaneously.  If not, you can try a version procedure.  If that doesn't work, most Ob's will schedule a c-section for term breech, but if you feel really really strongly about avoiding a c-section, there are some Ob's experienced in breech delivery at specific hospitals able to perform emergency c-section 24/7 that will try if you meet certain criteria.

Hope your baby turns!  There are all sorts of theories on how to get a baby to turn, from chiropractic maneuvers to exercises to playing music near your hoohah.  There was a website- spinningbabies or something like that?

  • I saw your repost on PAL....I was breeched at 31 weeks also.  I decided around that time to do a c-section.  My dr had told me that they could try and turn the baby, but she didn't lie to me and said she didn't have much success doing that and I was warned it hurt like hell.  I had already had a rought time TTC and a rough pregnancy, I didn't want to put myself or the baby through that, especially if it didn't work.  Turns out the csection was the best option b/c my uterus is heart shaped and it would have been a struggle getting DD to turn.  I actually loved that I could rub her little head b/c it was up around my ribs.  She loved it too and to this day she still loves her head to be rubbed.  :)  It didn't really bother me that I had to get a csection.  It sounds strange but I'm kind of glad I didn't have to go through labor, pushing and all the other stuff that comes with a regular birth.  Yes, I was sore, but I think it was the best option for me.  :)  Good luck!!!  And no matter how you give birth, all that matters is that at the end you will be holding that precious LO!!!

. Thanks. I do think it's cute that I can rub his head and I am not afraid of surgery but it was just weird that I got all emotional about being breeched. I'll try the yoga poses they suggest ect to see if he turns.

  • DD was breech and stayed that way, but I also have a septated uterus.  I had a scheduled c/s and I was terrified.  It turned out to not be so bad.  One of the perks of a c/s is a lo who has a perfectly rounded head instead of a cone head, lol.  I read somewhere that if a baby stays breech there is probably a reason for it.  I know it is frustrating, but the most important thing is that you have a healthy baby.  GL!

  • We scheduled a ECV for week 37. Hoping she flips. I really don't want a c but what ever happens happens. We decided it doesn't hurt to try.
