So I've decided that I need to find a hobby. I need sometimes to help take my mind off of being TTA. Does anyone have any ideas? We are tight on cash because DH is laid off and we just bought a house so it needs to be cheap. I don't mind spending a little bit but nothing big. I want to explore and try new things, get out of my little comfort bubble. Thanks for your help!

Re: Looking for a cheap hobby. Any ideas?
I've been in the same boat sorta, so I started back up with yoga and running, but still looking for something else.
MH started volunteering at a local animal rescue. He goes once or twice a week, walks dogs, cleans bowls, washes towels, whatever needs to be done to help out (its a fairly large operation)... he's also really into reading, which I want to get back into.
Any book clubs near you or volunteer opportunities? (not very expensive)... what other interests do you have? cooking/baking, crafts?

Since you are TTA why don't you sign up for a 5k run? Running is cheap because all you really need are shoes.
or Fishing! I really want to start fishing. Meetup.com might be a good place for you to start.
Community service would be ideal because you might develop job skills & make friends. maybe something related to your major? I volunteer to teach adults to read throught the Adult Literacy League. they always need tutors!

My heart is as open as the sky.
Read about it on the blog
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
These are all such great suggestions. I do currently knit although not faithfully. I started a baby blanket a year ago and its still not done. I'm just not motivated to work on it for obviousy reasons. I might try knitting socks though, those aren't baby related.
I might also take up jogging again. I started the Couch 2 5k challenge a couple of weeks ago but had a really bad week emotionally and quit. I should probably start again. And baking is always a great idea. Maybe I will challenge myself to try new recipes instead of falling back on the old faithful ones all the time.
Thanks ladies! I can do this!

All of this! I have gotten so addicted to reading lately and I've always wanted to learn how to knit. Maybe knit stuff and donate it. Hats and scarfs to a shelter or something.
A good way to keep yourself accountable is blogging. Say you want to try a new recipe for Sunday dinner, then make that your weekly goal, pick your ingredients during the wk, then blog your experience trying to make the meal (doesn't have to be fancy/expensive)... its just a good way to remind yourself.

That is a good idea. I do have a blog although so far it is a blog for my babies. Although I'm sure my four readers wouldn't mind reading about what I'm cooking! Thanks for the suggestion.

Because of the great "Snow"vember of 2015, my medicated cycle was cancelled. However, we were blessed with our little rainbow baby due on 8/14/15! Baby J had other plans and decided to make his grand ole entrance on 7/4/2015!
Surprise! Our little girl entered this world on 12/8/2016 after her eviction notice was long past due. Our little turkey baby turned into a snow baby!
I'm in the same boat, so I'm going to start going to a yoga class more regularly. By more regularly, I mean not once in a blue moon.
Start a book club. Sign up to be a docent of a historical building or museum. Start a supper club or a movie club. Scrapbook. Pick up photographing. Garden.

I think all of the ideas here are really great! I try to be frugal with my hobbies, and I love to check out books from the library or borrow from friends, go thrift store shopping, work on craft projects, write in my journal or work on other writing projects, and spend time outside doing things like hiking with DH and the dog. I want to get into cooking and also vegetable gardening. I also spend more time than I'd like on the internet reading decorating and simple living blogs. In the past I have done some volunteering, and it really makes you feel great, so it might be worth a try, too.
I totally understand wanting to throw yourself into something to take your mind off TTA. Thinking about trying again can be so consuming. I hope you find something that you really enjoy!

Everyone has already posted my ideas.... based on my own hobbies. ;-) I actually just started week 3 in C25k. As it's cheap and a great way to work out some of my emotions.
