Maybe I'm just crazy, but what's the big deal with making your own baby food? I mean, it's not like you're a farmer, growing your own ingredients. How do you know that the squash you buy at the market is any "better" or "more" organic or "no" preservatives?
I don't get it.... explain your reasons ![]()
Re: Making your own baby food
We're planning on making our own baby food once the farmers markets start to open up around here. It's not so much that we want to be organic as we want to give them the best possible food products (within our budget) and we want to support local economy wherever we can.
Also, a lot of farms around here are U-Pic, so we figure it's a good outing for the four of us.
Unable to even.

I agree with everything above. I give my FIL (who watches DD during the week while I"m at work) some jarred food because it's easier for him. But I make a lot of her food because it's cheaper and I've actually found it fun. I've never been a super great cook for me and DH's dinners. But now that I"m buying a lot more fresh veggies, I've been cooking a lot more healthy dinners for us as well.
I work, but get a 1/2 day on Fridays. So I normally leave DD with FIL and go home and make her foods. Doesn't take long to make and I know what's going in it. I too bought the huge jar of "adult" applesauce but I got the natural kind that only had apples and water. It was just easier to me. I also agree with making different textures. The first few batches of something I make I do a little more creamy, and then get thicker with the other batches. She's been transitioning great! :-)
