I had posted on "The Eco-Friendly Family" board regarding a natural way to kill ants. I've tried the suggestions but no luck so far. Just curious what others were using, especially those with toddlers who get into everything! Any suggestions?

We had an ant problem, and had to get an exterminator. He used a powder that was baby/pet safe. Sorry I'm no help, 'cause I don't know what it was, but maybe you can contact someone professional. GL ants suck.

We did this and I also clean around my windows with a really soapy sponge and leave the soap there. I guess it kills the ants. We haven't had an ant problem since and it used to be really bad

Not natural, but we used ant traps because they were so bad, We stacked about 3 or 4 quarters underneath small tupperwares and masking taped them down so no animals would get underneath but we'd do the same thing if we had to now with a 16 month old.
our ants were coming in from 2 of our windows so we caulked them again and put ant traps on the window sill and haven't had any since. So far DS hasn't noticed the one (it's behind the curtain) and the other one is behind our sink so he can't reach it if he tried.
We have an ant problem every spring, and this year it seemed worse with all the crumbs from dd (even though I sweep like crazy!) so I did some searching and found that baking soda or baby powder both work well.
One night after dd went to bed, I poured baking soda all over wehre the ants seem to be, and along the few spots I thought they were coming in and out. The next morning, I cleaned it all up. But have since put some down in the teeny little cracks between the floor and wall and then the floor and the door, and I've only seen 1 or 2 since then.
I googled for organic/natural ways to get rid of ants.
