anyone have eczema from pregnancy?

I have developed this disgusting little dime size patch of IDK what on my chin, and its all I see when I look in the mirror. I had a bit on the other side of my chin that went away very slowly, but I have no idea what I can/can't put on it to make it go away...  It doesn't hurt or anything, except it hurts me to look at it. Any suggestions ladies?

Re: anyone have eczema from pregnancy?

  • I have had eczema for my entire life and it's gotten worse with pregnancy only because I can't use my normal creams. I did just go get some hydrocortisone and that has helped a bit. My doc said to just use a tiny bit because it's class C. I would try that. I've tried every cream you can imagine, and so far, this has helped me...a bit. Nothing will "cure" it.

I just read that eczema itches, but this doesn't. I wonder if its something different. Its just the only thing I see when I look in the mirror, like its bigger than my bump.

Yes, it itches like a mother trucker. Hmmm, maybe a pimple or ingrown hair? Does it hurt?

no, its just a dry, scaly patch. it only hurts to look at it.

  • I've had eczema all my life.  It itches like crazy, flakes and weeps.  No fun.  It went away during the 1st tri and now is back.

I *also* have a dry scaly patch on my head that only came when I got pregnant (never had anything like it before).  It doesn't itch and is sort of reddish.  About the size of a quarter on my forehead.  It sounds to me a lot like what you're describing.  I don't think much can be done about it although you could try some serious moisturizer (eucerin is good, but really anything that is a cream rather than a lotion (very thick) and fragrance/dye free is going to be fine).  I think weird skin things just come with pregnancy.

  • I've had eczema since elementary school--whenever I get a patch of dry skin, I moisturize it with organic lotion that does not list alcohol as an ingredient (this just dries out your skin even more). Not that it helps you right now, but if eczema is going to be a recurring problem throughout your pregnancy, I'd recommend some form of preventative maintenance.
