Trouble TTC

Acupuncture (xp Infertility board)

Hello ladies,

Has anyone had acupuncture to help treat infertility-related issues?  ie. annovulation, PCOS, recurrent miscarriage?  I've heard it's useful in conjunction with fertility treatments..

I had a m/c 2 months ago, and am waiting for my period to return before we start the next IUI cycle.  My RE recommended acupuncture as apparently it's quite common to use as supplement to IF treatment.  I start tomorrow, maybe it will regulate my cycle..?  here's hoping..

thoughts, experiences?

TIA:)

I have been going for about 3 months, usually once right at the beginning of my cycle, and then close to O. My cycles have normalized, I O a little earlier, my temps are less spikey, and I am so much calmer and peaceful about this whole process. I highly recommend it, but be sure to do your research and pick a good one. I have heard horror stories. If nothing else, it's an hour of relaxation just for you. I was nervous at first because I looooooathe needles, but it's actually quite nice.

Edit: If they recommend any teas or herbs, be sure to ask your doctor before starting them. They can have interactions with meds. HTH!

  • My SIL practices acupuncture and has helped many clients achieve pregnancy. Her sister did not have a period in 11 months, had an acupuncture session, got her period the next month and got pregnant the next month and just delivered 3 weeks ago.

I had acupuncture treatments for 6 months (stopped when hubby got laid off and couldn't afford them) but my luteal phase lengthened from 10 to 14 days and I no longer had spotting 2 days before my period would arrive. Also I would O as late as day 18/19 and my O moved up to day 14 with 14 day luteal phase.

I had to fill out this really long questionnaire about bowel movements, food cravings, daily meal plan, etc. as well as he looked at my tongue and took my pulse and diagnosed me with kidney yang deficiency.

Cycles have been great, just haven't got that BFP yet but I would recommend it for sure. Good luck :)

  • I would also highly recommend it.  I don't ovulate on my own so I'm on Clomid or Femara (depending on the month).  The first three months, my lining never got above 5.6 mm.  This month, it was 11.3 mm.  It was like a miracle and I only did it CD2 and CD4 (I was out of town otherwise).  I would definitely recommend it!

  • I have been going weekly for 3 months. I no longer have cramping or o pain. I O day 12 now instead of day 11. I was spotting about 4 days before AF, now just 1 day. I am not KU yet, but like she keeps telling me, I am laying a good foundation for when I do get KU. I also have 3 small fibroids and would get cramping on/off during my cycles. That has stopped entirely.

  • I have been going weekly for about 2 months now and I love it.  My cycles have regulated and my overall mental health has been better.  I find the herbs in combination with the acupuncture treatments have been a great addition to my IF struggles.  Good Luck to you!

  • Here is some info from the acu I am going to see... https://www.thirteenmoonsacupuncture.com/ There is a link for fertility.  Not sure if this will help.  I have not seen her yet, 2 weeks until my appointment, but I am excited!

  • I also have been going weekly for a couple of months and I enjoy it!

I have little itty bitty AF cramps now, I have more energy during AF, I have a ton of EWCM (which I was Dx as not being able to produce enough) and it's such a relaxing time when I go for my appointments.

  • I do acupuncture in conjuction with treatment cycles.  It helped me alot.  It helped to stabilize my temps and I also had AF without having to take meds.  I started out going once per week and then spread it out to twice per month.

My only suggestion is to make sure you go to someone with IF experience.  Good luck!
