This has nothing to do with TTC but I want to whine, so you can stop reading here. I've been sick for over a month now. First it was an left ear infection and amoxicillin , followed by a right ear infection and z-pack, not to be out down by bronchitis/sinusitis with augmentin and cough syrup with codeine. However while I was taking the augmentin this weekend I developed a fever of 101-102 that I could only get to go down by taking Tylenol and Advil. I go to the doctor yesterday and she isn't sure whats wrong with me! It could be a rare strep, atypical bacteria sinusitis, mono, a virus, the flu, pneumonia, a blood infection, the list goes on an on. So she is changing my antibiotic to something stronger, ordered a chest x-ray, strep test, and a ton of blood work (blood cultures, Lyme's disease test, the list goes on). I did all of the tests yesterday and started by new meds. And today, it seems the fever is gone. However, I still have a killer sore throat.
The doctor doesn't want me going back to work until I go back to see her on Thursday. Only problem is, I'm out of sick days. I only get three and I used my last on yesterday. Today I'm off on borrowed time. My office won't stop paying me so I have to figure out a way to make up the time that I missed. I was thinking I'd go back if the fever was gone but my throat is so sore, and I'd hate to get other people sick with this crazy thing. Thanks for listening. There is only so much complaining I can do to my husband and when my MIL hears how sick I am, she keeps threatening to come over to do laundry for me. Which I do appreciate, but I'm not sure how I feel about my MIL handling my "dedicates". Maybe today, I'll get the motivation do my own laundry.

This may sound completely strange but the same sort of thing happened to me over a year ago. They couldn't figure out what was wrong and I felt horrible!! The sore throat was absolutely indescribable. It wasn't a strep kind of sore. My neck was swollen but it wasn't mono. With the bloodwork they are doing, I'm sure they will check everything but my problem was that my thyroid was severely inflammed (not hypo/hyper but swollen twice it's size and inflammed) Steroids, antibiotics, nothing would help. I just had to rest, take advil and it did take quite a while to feel somewhat normal. I hope you get answers soon and start feeling better. I'm so sorry! Take your MIL up on the help so that you can rest. I completely understand on the delicates thing though..my MIL nor my mother are allowed near them. Creeps me out!
On the time off, I'd just tell your supervisor that you will definitely make up the time but that the doctor doesn't want you to come back yet until you start to feel better because they honestly don't know what is wrong. I would obviously make up the time very slowly to not exhaust yourself more! Take care of yourself!
Thank you. They are checking my thyroid. I'm going to try going back to work today. I felt pretty good yesterday so I figured I'd give it a go today. Worse comes to worse, I leave. I am armed with cough drops, advil and mucinex. Fingers crossed, I'll make it through and back to the doctors at 4:30.
Oh and I did my laundry yesterday! No need for anyone to see my lacy bits!
