East Side OB's

I'm not impressed after my first visit with my OB for this PG that I had used for our first DD and am ready to change sooner rather than later (three strikes he's out)...  When I used him for our first DD I liked him, but I was 80lbs. lighter and a couch potato, he also missed a lot I thought during/after my first PG and this time around he's all alarmist and making recommendations based on what seems like a fear of getting sued instead of proper medical advice.  Now that I'm incredibly active it's like he wants me to quit all physical activity by the 10w. mark, and it's like "NO WAY!" (L&D was 36 hours with DD and I'm more worried about health concerns if I cut activities all together instead of the modifications for my sport I knew I'd need to make)..

Anyway, I'm looking for a new OB in the east burbs, not sure where I want to get my epidural yet (I can deliver anywhere - can only get the epi at the hospital) and insurance will cover most options.  I also do not want to go to Woodwinds to deliver after a friend's experience there.

  • I see dr Hartung at Hudson Hospital.

I can not say enough good things about him. He's been fantastic with everything.

He's the one who discovered our loss (at a provider interview), and has done anything I've needed to help calm my nerves this time. I drive from Hugo to see him, and I would double the commute to see him if I had to.

  • I love the Health East midwives if you are open to a midwife. They have clinics all over the east suburbs and deliver at St. Joes

Their patients can have epidurals and they did an awesome job handling my (serious) post-birth complications.

I am considering delivering at woodwinds (again) this time - would you be willing to share youur friend's story?

  • I highly recommend Adefris and Toppin Women's Specialists in Woodbury.  They deliver at Woodwinds in Woodbury.  I switched to them at 28 weeks.  All the doctors were great and the entire staff was very nice.  Also, I had a great experience delivering at Woodwinds!

I use Partners OBGYN in Maplewood.  I mainly saw Dr. Washbusch with both my pregnancies, but I really liked all the doctors.  Dr. Syal did my c/s with my first son (breach with my water breaking before the scheduled c/s date.)  and Dr. Goralski delivered my second son (VBAC with a very long labor.)  They're great about giving you all the information and helping you make educated choices.

  • I also loved the Health East midwives and was very happy with my delivery at St. Joseph's.

  • I have had a few friends deliver at St. Johns.  I delivered at Fairview in Wyoming.  I love the hospital and the OB clinic is great.
  • I've heard really good things about Partner's in Maplewood. I went to Parkview OB/GYN at United and like it.

And yeah, I'd be totally on board with not wanting to quit being active! That's not cool! I worked out until the very end and hope I can do it again in the future. The only reason I backed off was b/c I was so fatigued at the end. Really helped with L&D!
