Indiana Babies

Nice.

Jocelyn did not want to go to bed tonight. All of the usual tricks failed to get her to go to sleep quietly so we just let her whine in her room. Chris finally went in to settle her down and she wanted to wear her crown (she's princess obsessed after all the royal wedding business). That worked for 30 seconds and then the whining started back up. We waited a while longer and then I went in. I didn't turn on the lights but walked over to the side of her bed. I see her reach out to me so I stick my hands out. She proceeds to hand me her soggy diaper and says "oops". Real nice. Maybe we need to get more serious about potty training...

  • potty training - ugh.  my mom keeps telling me how i was potty trained by now, in comparison to audrey.  while i do think she shows some signs, i also think she's not completely interested. for example:  if she has a dirty diaper she'll tell you she doesn't want to sit in it, but she's fine standing/running around in it.

but i bought some m and m's and come june 8th, we'll be hitting it hard.  i really want her potty trained by the arrival of LO # 2!

  • I am not laughing at your pain...I'm laughing at the soggy diaper.  Have you been potty training at all?  I am definitely not looking forward to it!  Thankfully we have a while to go.

  • No, we haven't really put any effort into potty training. Our pediatrician actually advised against it until after baby #2 was here and we'd gotten into a nice groove. I suppose we're approaching that time now. We have had a potty seat in the bathroom for about 6 months and Jocelyn likes to sit on it, but she's only peed in it once. We've really made no effort beyond buying the seat. Honestly, we're hoping daycare will do a lot of the heavy lifting. I know that's terrible, but Jocelyn just moved up to the room where they take them to the potty 4 times per day. No results yet, but this room has a great track record of potty training the kids. Keeping my fingers crossed! The thought of discovering a poop-smeared bed one morning is terrifying.
