Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to share my terrifying experience from today to hopefully prevent it from happening to any of you ladies as well.
I drink a good amount of water, at least 4-5 huge cups during my work day...I always feel hydrated enough (I certainly pee enough) - but today, when on my lunch time walk that I make 3-4 times a week...I became thirsty almost out of nowhere, and then I noticed that I started walking slower than usual, then I felt very dizzy, disoriented, like I was about to black out / pass out and extremely weak.
Unfortunately today of all days I forgot my phone at home so I had to flag down a random stranger to take me back to my office.
Thank goodness for nice little old ladies.![]()
I was terrified, I had no idea what was wrong with me. I'm a healthy woman, extremely healthy actually, and fit...this scare literally came out of nowhere. I called my doctor after I was back in my office and the nurse told me that it was definitely dehydration and that I needed to up my water intake.
Just when I thought I was doing everything I could to protect my sweet baby, something like this happens and makes me realize how fragile the two of us are together.
Take care ladies, and drink loads and loads of water.
xo
Re: Drink LOTS of Water - Learn from my experience
That is scary. I'm glad it turned out okay.
After I read this post I downed my bottle of water and went to fill it up again.
OP...That is such a beautiful statement 'I realized how fragile the two of us are together". After reading your post, I felt an immense privilege to be carrying a new life....deep I know, but I love those "deep meaningful moments". Thanks for sharing! Cheers two glasses of water coming up!
lots of water is sooooooo important!! Glad you are ok! With Riley, I ended up needing IV fluids for 24 hours post delivery because I as so dehyrdated....I was then so swollen I couldn't even wear flip flops for a whole week...and she was born in the middle of December and I had to wear DH slippers to the hospital to see her while she was in the NICU!
You are all so sweet and I'm so glad my experience has refilled your water glasses and bottles today!
Thank you for the shared experiences, sweet words, and deep thoughts...I love it all.
Remember that it is possible to overhydrate as well. It's pretty hard to do (I think you have to drink about 2 gallons/day), but it is possible and can have some negative consequences.
We just can't win for trying, right
