Trying to Get Pregnant

First RE visit and a diagnoses!

Today was my first appointment with my RE. She is wonderful! She really took the time to explain everything and help me understand what is going on with my body. She did an ultrasound and confirmed that I do have PCOS. We came up with a plan she set up lab work and a SA for DH to be done in the future. I'll be starting Metformin after I get the lab work done. I'm starting on a diet and exercise routine as well. She wants me to have an hsg done between CD 5 and 12. I'm so relieved to have some answers and a plan! Big Smile

Re: First RE visit and a diagnoses!

  • That's so bittersweet.  It's wonderful news that you finally have a diagnosis and plan, but bad news that you do have PCOS :(.  I also am on Metformin, but for insulin resistance not PCOS, which is basically the exact same thing, it just doesn't cyst up my ovaries, just causes annovulation.  On top of that the birth control I was on before never seemed to have left my system.  It seems like you are well on your way to become regulated and hopefully become pregnant soon.

Really glad you had a good appointment with your RE, I hope the Metformin starts working soon.  Good luck to you and your husband!

  • It's wonderful that you're so positive and have a plan in place!  Even though you got the PCOS diagnosis, I think it's also good that you have some confirmation about what's going on with your body and are able to formulate a plan.  Good luck!  :)

  • That's fabulous that you have a plan and a positive attitude! I think when you get a good doctor, and they take time to explain what they know it always makes things look better. Congratulations on knowing few more pieces to the puzzle!

  • Thanks everyone! And I agree, it is bittersweet. I was sitting in the office before I went back to talk to the doctor, and almost cried. It is scary and stressful, but the only way that I can keep trying is to stay positive and have a plan. Otherwise I'd probably give up. Thank you for all the encouragement!!
