DS will absolutely have nothing to do with the cereal I'm trying to feed him until he's had some of his bottle. I know, not a HUGE deal... but he's not eating as much cereal as I had hoped.
Anyone have any tips on getting him to try cereal before he fills up on his formula?
Should I be trying to get him to eat cereal in between bottles?
Like I said, he's taking some of the cereal, but definitely not as much as I feel he would if he hadn't already downed most of a bottle. Also, if I stop mid-bottle he gets super pissed, I already tried that.
TIA
Re: rice cereal advice please?
I always nurse DD prior to cereal because at this age they still need their primary nutrition from milk, not cereal. She only gets two tablespoons per day though she would eat it all day if I let her
No reason to fill up on cereal - its just for practice.
Yup, this! Don't stress if he's not eating much cereal - he doesn't need it. I nurse DS about 1 hour before cereal so he's hungry enough to eat but not starving and is still getting a good feed from the breast first. Then I nurse him again at bedtime. I don't want him to fill up on cereal and not take in enough milk.
Thanks everyone!
No there's not a reason I'm trying to get him to eat more cereal. I just always heard that you should offer the cereal first so they're more likely to eat it...
...which it turns out is a load of crap! haha. It goes to show you that you should always follow what YOU think is right for your baby -- which apparently I needed reminding of!
