It was $299 so that saved us since this years model is $429. There's only one real difference that I read about that didn't matter to us and I could careless what years model it is since I plan to use it for the next 5 yrs + anyways!
It may not seem like a splurge to some but I saw double strollers from $100 all the way up to $1000 and it was a splurge for us because I never thought I'd spend that much on one! But in the end, after doing tons of research and talking it over with Ryan we decided it was well worth it. We've already used it twice for the zoo, a few times at the mall and a few times around the neighborhood.
I can honestly say I really love it and it was well worth the $$ IMO. There are so many pluses to it and I've only found 3 things about it that are negatives... The basket is hard to access even though we have a small diaper bag (we actually ended up downsizing diaper bags since having 2u2!), there is no parent console (I bought one today for $8) and the accessories are pricey (if you need them)... I love that it's slender and fit through EVERY door at the zoo! I love that it's easy to fold and maneuver around. I love that it's compact and fits in the trunk of my civic!
That's my stroller (although I got the stone/black combo because for some reason it was cheaper than the others) so I think you made an awesome choice!
The accessories are definitely pricey, which sucks - I've been eying the lap trays and bar for a while, but they're kind of ridiculously priced and unfortunately never seem to go on sale. The lower basket is on the small side and I agree that it's difficult to access, although I don't really ever put much stuff in there (I just shove it all in my diaper bag lol). But as you say, the pluses definitely outweigh the negatives!
I love love love how compact it is for a double stroller - it's much
lighter than most double strollers and folds so flat that we can easily
put it and our week's worth of groceries in the trunk of our car, plus
it's fitted through every door I've aimed it at. And it's SO easy to
maneuver - I can spin it in a full circle with one hand, and it would
have been impossible to do that with a lot of the other double strollers
I considered. And this will seem random, but I also really like the sunshades - they're nice and large, and a lot of double strollers seem to have smaller ones.
Like you, I debated for a long time before buying it (it was on the uppermost end of what we wanted to spend, so definitely a splurge), but
I have absolutely no regrets - I think how happy I am that we have it
every.single.time that I use it!

It is SO compact which is one of the reasons I picked it. I was able to fit through every single door at the zoo without issues. And the grocery thing, big deal when the back seat is full of kids I love the sunshades too! They are GIANT compared to others. I didn't consider them to be a purchasing factor at first but now that I have them, I'd consider them a factor in future stroller purchases and I'll recommend it to friends too because of that as a bonus! It's so nice because for walks if it's sunny or windy it really helps.
I carry the "gerber" free bag from the hospital if we are going to be out 2-3 hours or less. It has 2 diapers for each kiddo, a few snacks for Bella, her sippy and my wallet. It's TINY and it doesn't fit, well it fits but it'd be like me sausaging into a size 8 pant almost impossible and unable to zip!
We did buy the parent console by Sunshine kids and I like it so far. I haven't considered the belly bar and snack trays yet due to the price, though we ALWAYS used the snack trays for Bella in our single stroller and it was a nice bonus. We'll see though as time goes on and I use the stroller more, I'll likely get them down the road We didn't get the car seat adapter because I wanted to see how G did in the car seat... thankfully we didn't spend the money on it because he's not that good in the car seat, he does much better in the stroller alone than in the car seat. Let me know if you splurge on the trays!!

It's funny, I NEVER would have thought about the sunshades as a selection criteria before either, but after seeing mine compared to some of my friends' when we go on walks, it would absolutely be something I'd check in the future and a big reason why I recommend my stroller to people.
Ahhhh, so you're sticking your diaper bag underneath? I thought you meant just random stuff like blankets and whatnot. Yeah, I don't even try to do that with mine! But my diaper bag has clip straps to attach it to the handle, so that's what I do and it works well. But then I suppose you couldn't use the parent console?

What do you have for your two boys?
