Coupons

So I've seen that many  of you ladies do some great couponing when it comes to kids clothes. My question is how do you get ahold of these great coupons?

Is it one of those deals where the more you purchase in the stores the more they will send you? Or are there certian magazines that carry good ones? Just curious. I am just starting to look at baby clothes so I don't want to spend a ton without having all the info! TIA

Re: Coupons

  • We got 99% of ds's clothes at Carter's.  You just sign up for their mailing list and email list and they send coupons all the time.  They also have a FB page that will have coupons for FB fans.

  • I usually get stuff at Gymboree if I have a 20% or 30% coupon (from magazines - Parents, or sent to me in the mail), and I am usually sifting through the online clearance for next season clothes.  I usually only buy it if I can get each piece less than $10.  Then, you usually get Gymbucks for a purchase, which is $25 off a $50 purchase, and then starts the vicious cycle!  lol.  I also get a lot of cheap stuff at Kohl's.  They usually have $5 each piece (shorts/pants/shirts), so sometimes if he needs a lot of play clothes, I'll stock up there.

This! I get alot of DS' clothes from Kohl's when they are having good sales, play clothes and nicer, name brand clothes too. In general, I also follow the don't buy unless it's less than $10 rule. On any given day DS' outfit, shirt and shorts/pants, more than likely cost less than $10 total. We also get alot of casual stuff at Target and Walmart, mainly their house brands.

I know I got off topic from the coupons, but we really don't use them much. I just shop around for good deals, and it helps that my parents and sisters usually buy him several nice outfits for his bday and Christmas.

There's always a 20% printable coupon for carters online.  I shop a lot at Baby GAP and Old Navy and so I actually have a GAP card.  With that, I ALWAYS get coupons for 20-40% off.  And then I get a lot of rewards card to apply to my purchase.  Both girls are pretty predictable in their sizes and so I buy past season clothes to wear for future seasons when they extra cheap (i.e. winter clothes on sale during the summertime).

There's always a 20% off gymbore coupon in the Parents magazine.  and a few times a year, they offer 30% off (I get a lot in the mail).  I buy a decent amount using the 30% off and then get gymbucks for my next purchase which to me is like 50% off.

I rarely have luck with Janie and Jack though.

  • I signed up to received emails from Gap, Gymboree, Childrens Place. I will say that Gap and Gymboree clothes have held up the best from my experience. Gaps onesies were super soft cotton and pretty stretchy, DS wore them for a long time and I was even able to sell them to a consignment shop after. I am a constant sale shopper and really picky about prices, I don't think I have ever paid over 10.00 for any clothing item. Sometimes it's luck, like once I was still PG but stopped in babyGap and they had almost all their sale for 2.99 and under. I bought everything from shorts, onesies, jeans in all different sizes and it lasted me a long time. DS is still wearing a pair of shorts that I got for 1.99 that day! That sale wasn't advertised though. Gymboree had a sale the other week and I went the first day and got a lot of fall/winter clothes for 2.99 or 6.99. Of course I have to guess on the sizes, but generally I have been a pretty good guesser! They had a lot of items in the bins for .99 as well.

So, definitely sign up to receive the emails from stores and I would suggest if you can to go on the first day of a big sale. Otherwise I would say if you are in the mall, stop into BabyGap, Gymboree, etc., you never know what you might find.

  • So far, I've only bought at Gymboree, Hanna Anderson and some boutiques.

Both Gymboree and HA have email lists that send out coupons.  I've found my boutique stuff cheaper at www.shopthatstore.com, I just go search for whatever it is I'm looking for.

I get Neiman Marcus coupons every so often (I have a card and eat in the restaurant regularly) and since I'm pregnant and they can't be used on beauty stuff, LO has a lot of nice stuff from there!

  • If you become a Gymboree Rewards member they send you coupons all the time! I think you can sign up at the store or online. You just show your card when you purhcase something and after you earn a certain number of points, they send you $5, $10 certificates (depending on how much you spend every 3 months).

I get Carter's coupons just from giving my phone number at the store when I buy stuff.

  • NANNER!!!!  Hey- I haven't seen you since I was getting married on the knot.  Funny, we both are pregnant at the same time, I guess thats what happens after you get married.  I know this is your first baby.  Take it really easy on buying baby clothes- you will get a lot at your shower.  In fact I would not buy anything until after your shower.  And if you register at Target they will give you a 10% off coupon for anything you did not receive on your registry.

  • Definitely sign up for the Gymboree Rewards card.  They will mail you and email you 20% off coupons.  Gymboree clothes hold up really well.  Most of the stuff I get DD from there does not have to be ironed and it doesn't fade.  I also get a lot of clothes at Macy's.  I love their First Impressions brand.  It also holds up nicely.  They usually always have their stuff on sale plus if you have a Macy's card they send you coupons non-stop.

I also buy a lot of end of season clothes for the next year.  Fortunately, DD is right on track with the sizes.  It is so hard not to buy all the cute baby clothes.

Everyone said this, but it wasn't true for me.  I got all my registry gifts and just a few outfits. But all my friends probably know how much shopping I was doing for little clothes (and possibly how picky I am)!
