Pregnancy/cold combination is kicking my butt!!

Any recommendations on cold remedies this early on?  Stuffy/runny nose and a cough with a sore throat that shows up every once in a while.  Luckily no m/s yet!!

    im with ya. my ds who is 18months had a really bad cold and now me and the hubby are sick. i have a home remedy book and made a tea last night. it seemed to help clear up the congestion a bit but it also made us gassy.

    I talked to a pharmacist about this last week.  He said that pregnant women can take an antihystemine like Claratin.  Also, we can use a nasal steroid like nasonex (prescription only).  Between the two I've been able to keep my sinuses pretty dry and drained.  I still have chest congestion and other than Cold Season tea I haven't found anything to help with that.

    You should try using a netipot. It looks like a little plastic toy tea kettle and you pour a combination of distilled water with a saline solution into one nostril and it comes out the other. If you keep at it it really helps unclog your sinuses. For the throuat- gargle with salt water. Good luck I feel your pain. I had bronchitis when I first learned I was pregnant and had to be on an antibiotic that is "safe" for pregnancy.

    When I had my cold a few weeks back I literally slept for over 40 hours between Friday evening and Sunday night....

    I'm just getting over the horrible cold/flu bout that's going around. My routine (approved by my OBGYN): Sudafed PE, Tylenol, hot (caffeine free) mint tea, cough syrup (at night only), neti pot, and cold rags on the forehead...and LOTS of sleep. I'm coming out the other side now, but last week I was ready to throw in the towel. Hang in there!
