I am SOOOO upset right now

So DH and I have been on the waiting list for the Fertility Clinic since September. We were told it's a 6-8 month wait, and it's coming up on 8 months here, so I figured I'd give them a call and see what's going on.

Apparently, they don't even have our referral. My doctor never sent it to them!!!!!!! GAH!!!!!!! I am soooooo upset right now, I don't even know what to do.

So they told me to call my doctor and get him to resend the referral and say everything was done in September, and they will try and get me an appointment ASAP. But who knows when that will be.

So I try calling my doctor's office but there's no answer and no voicemail. I've already called like 10 times. I'm gonna go there today but I'm worried I will either blow up at them or start crying.

GAH!!!!! All I feel like doing right now is screaming.

That is absolutely terrible. It's hard enough dealing with all this without doctors getting simple things like paperwork mixed up! I hope he gets it straightened out and they can see you very soon!

Steam would be coming out of my ears! When I am that mad, I lead with that "Please understand that I am so angry right now, I.....a) am seeing red b) am having a hard time with nice words c) really wish you would have returned my phone calls." You get the idea.

How ridiculous and unprofessional. It's difficult enough to get a diagnosis and wait, let alone to feel forgotten in another regard.

Back in August, I was told by doctor that it was a 1-year wait. I'm going next month for my followup after Clomid here to let him know I want to move forward with the IUI and get on the wait list.

PS: I'm in Edmonton too.

I hate what we have here for fertility options. It sucks. I feel like moving to the US just to have better options. LOL

So I went to my GP's office yesterday to tell them what was going on and they put me in to see my doc. He was surprised that I hadn't gotten a call from the Fertility Clinic yet and also that I hadn't gotten a call from the OB/GYN he sent a referral too.

He gets really frustrated with the hoops we have to go through to get anywhere. And he said no other patients he's had to send for testing and referrals to the Fertility Clinic, were this difficult to get in. He said the amount of testing me and DH have had to do is ridiculous and that he has never had to order all these tests before. Some tests he's never even heard of, like HTLV I and II.

And he's also frustrated because we have been trying for almost 21 months now and thinks we should have gotten in by now.

So he said he was going to personally fax everything in to the Fertility Clinic again and write them a letter saying we should be put at top priority.

I'm going to call the Fertility Clinic again today and see what they say.

I used to work for my GP's office so I know how referral letters can get misplaced before being sent. It would happen more times than it shouldn't. I also work in Health Records at the Grey Nuns and it really is amazing how many errors occur that affects patient's care.

My coworker said if I could choose to choose Dr. Motan at the Fertility Clinic. She had 4 years of being unsuccessful and the month before she was to start costly fertility drugs, she got pregnant on her own. She just said Dr. Motan was so personable and a wonderful doctor.

I really hope they can expedite your referral, especially since how long you've had to wait.

This month marks 24 months of trying for us, with nothing to account for our infertility. I do have a retroverted uterus and found a clinic in Edmonton that does Maya abdominal massage that can coax it into the correct position. I found an article on it after reading a woman's post on here about it for her uterus and so I'm going to try that next month and then see my results for my progesterone after this Clomid cycle and then I want to go straight to IUI.

I know, it would be so much easier in the US, but since DH and I are only mid 20's I feel I still have time rather than shell out a crap load of money and go to the States to have my care expedited (that's just me though). I already don't cope well with grasping the fact of how much money I've paid to try to conceive when for others it is so easy.

Keep me posted on if you are able to get in quickly! I will send positive thoughts your way
