We're also having salad, fruit, probably some chips and dip, but I'm going for as easy as humanly possible. Then cupcakes and ice cream for dessert.
I think it's a pretty 50-50 split between men and women, but I haven't counted.
I would order enough pizzas for 2-3 (average sized) slice/pieces, each, for the adults. 1 slice/piece for each child.
ETA: I'd always rather have a bit more than a bit less.
27 x 2 slices/person = 54 slices = 7 pizzas minimum.
27 x 3 slices/person = 81 slices = 10 pieces if you're 1 slice short of 3 each.
So, I'd say 8, maybe 9 pizzas since most won't eat 3 slices but I do think 2 slices/person is reasonable with a few to spare.
ETA: After re-reading your post and seeing that there are children in that head count, I would go with 8 pizzas.
