Mother's Day..

So J told me yesterday that he already has a gift for me for Mother's Day.

I don't know why, but it threw me off...I don't feel comfortable with it. I don't feel like a mother yet...so I don't feel I should receive a gift.

No point to this post other than to get it off my chest.

Re: Mother's Day..

  • I doubt my DH would think to do this (he's not much of a gift-giver) but I did think the other day that it was a little unfair that he'll probably get a Father's Day WAY before I get a Mother's Day.

You've been carrying this baby around for almost 9 months, I think a little gift could be in order!

  • IMO you are already a mommy.  Everything you do and have done since they day you got preggo you have been helping you little bean grow.  Not that you were looking for a response, but that's how I see it. =)  Your SO/DH is probably just trying to show his appreciation for carrying his child.  If it makes you feel better I have heard that many woman due shortly after moms day have asked that their SO keep any moms day gift for after the delivery and have a combined moms day and delivery gift... just an option..

  • You are totally a momma!  Think of all the things you have already done to make sure your baby is healthy and happy.  I would just enjoy whatever he has planned for you.  I know I am getting my DH a father's day gift, even though we may or may not have an "outtie" baby by that time!

  • I feel the same.  H and I were talking about what to get our mothers for Mother's Day, and he smiled and said he got me a gift.  I think it's super sweet of him to think of me :)  but I think it might be a little awkward.  Back pain doesn't make me deserving of a #1 mom necklace, lol.

That being said, like PP pointed out, we WILL have a baby by Father's Day, so why not.

This exactly!  Luckily DH has assured me he already has gifts for me :)

  • i didnt even consider it until standing in the card section of walmart looking for mothers day card for my mom, and seeing all of the mommas-to-be cards. i think its sweet he wants to get u a gift.

maybe to u, things have come natural as far as caring for LO inside of u, but to daddies, they see another side of u they havent seen before. thats the mommy side.

I will not accept a Mother's Day gift as I don't have an outside baby yet. I feel like it is tempting fate. However, once baby is outside and well, bring on any and all presents. :)

I keep seeing these posts and cringing as I know my DH won't do anything (not that he has to).  A little gesture would be nice, though (imo). I actually had to remind him yesterday of Mother's Day being this Sunday and how he needed to do something for his mom.

  • DH has been quite clear that i won't be getting anything this mothers day - i was little upset - i know baby won't be born yet but i'm still a mum.... i've been caring for this child for almost 9 months - surely that makes me a mum???

  • Aww, I think it's sweet. :) That being said, we aren't celebrating it at all, lol. And I wouldn't expect him to.

If our baby is born before Father's Day, I might get DH a card, but that's about it. The baby is his gift. :P

  • Stupid DH asked me tonight what I am getting him for father's day. My response was "what are you getting me for mother's day?" His response "nothing you aren't a mom yet" I am pretty sure he was joking with me but just because he was such an idiot I better have a gift in hand on Sunday! be thankful your DH is being thoughtful and not a moron like some of our DHs : )
