Gerber stage 2 foods

Hi ladies

Has anyone's LO started with stage 2? What is the difference? Its looks the same - just more of it? I have no clue - LO is sitting up on his own - so I assume he is ready for stage 2?

TIA. Geeked

Re: Gerber stage 2 foods

  • We do 2nd & 3rd foods.  I think the 2nd foods are a little thicker & the servings are a little bigger.

  • DD started with stage 2 foods when she had tried all the stage 1 foods with no allergic reactions.

They are a little thicker and have a mix of different ingredients. Although the macaroni and vegetable ones glides off the spoon, so I don't know how much "thicker" it really is.

FWIW, even though some 2nd foods have mixes with strawberries or citrus fruits, I don't give those ones to DS because strawberries and citrus shouldn't be given before a year. But eh, to each their own.

This. They are a little more lumpy too.

  • I use mostly Earth's Best and Plum and I gotta say - sometimes Stage 1 and Stage 2 have exactly the same consistency.  There is always more in Stage 2 - 4 to 4.5 oz vs. 2 to 3 oz.

I have not given any Stage 3 yet but I may try Happy Baby soon - their stage 3 is supposed to be ok for 7 months and up, while Earth's Best and Plum is not until 9 months and up.

  • They're bigger servings and also mixed flavors.

  • I didn't know Earth's Best did baby food - I like their cereals - well - LO likes them  - Ill give them a try - and thanks for the heads up about the strawberry and citrus - our pedi suggested we wait until LO is a year old to intro those foods.

    Thanks ladies. Drinks
