POLL: Do you want to comments ok in CW?

I am going to do this again since lately there seems to be some confusion. In the past we voted that people would prefer no comments in CW. Majority rules so I will put it to a vote again and if the tide has changed, the "rules" will change.

Re: POLL: Do you want to comments ok in CW?

  • I think the main problem was the CW became a bunch of people responding to one or two confessions.  Personally responses bug me- if you want comments, create your own CW separate post.  The whole point is to get it out without any comments.

  • Yeesh, I just don't know.  I've certainly read CWs I've wanted to comment on before and I could understand how people may want/need to hear words of advice/support/whatever but... I dunno.   I usually end up *not* commenting b/c if I don't have the time to comment on all of them I feel bad just commenting on one.  And then I feel bad if some people's CWs don't get as many comments as others...  Eh, we'll see what the majority decides but I tend to think no.  {shrug}
  • Are you referring to people saying "comments ok" at the bottom of their CW?  Or just making comments ok in general?

  • I think that you should be allowed to indicate whether you want comments or not.  I know that someone could just as easily make a new post about it but there are just some things that feel 'safer' confessing in CW.  It feels more like 'you're dating" the confession vs "you married it".  Does that make sense?   No commitment issues.

    Also - it's less annoying to see all the views without people actually posting on CW because people could just be being nosey and not feel obligated to post.  I think we've all noticed how we get a ton of views and 3 replies (or no replies).

    Anyway - just my 2 cents.

    Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • What about a separate post called something like "CW comments"  I know it is more work for someone who wants to comment but that way the CW post doesn't get clogged up by just comments.  The person could put in their original post if comments are ok or not and then if they are and someone wants to comment they can go to the comments post and do so there.  People might have to copy and paste or just post the posters bump name so they know who they are referring to.

  • For me, it depends on the CW on whether or not I want comments. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't. This is why I like the "Comments OK" option. I do really like the idea of a separate comments post though. I think it solves the problem of the CW post getting clogged up and also the problem of creating another post that may or may not be deleted. The comments post could be deleted at the same time as the CW post.
