please share your tips/experiences. my daughter is totally refusing to drink milk out of a sippy cup. my pediatrician told me to just take the bottle away and eventually she would drink milk out of it, but its certainly frustrating.
At the point when started to get rid of the bottle, DS was only getting 3 bottles a day. We took out the afternoon bottle first, and replaced it with a sippy cup. We had to get the Take n Toss ones because DS didn't like the ones that wouldn't drip out(with the inserts). He needed to be able to feel it drip in his mouth so he knew there was a drink in there. After that, we took the night time bottle away. That was pretty easy too. Didn't replace it with a sippy unless he really wanted one. He is one to just snuggle up to you and fall asleep. The morning bottle was a bit harder. I had to get him a snack with a sippy of milk right away in the morning. It took a few days but he ended up getting used to it and is now fine. My only advice is to stick with it. Don't keep taking it away and giving it back. She will eventually learn to drink from it and want to drink from it. Maybe try a different cup. Can I ask which one you use?
One day we didn't give him bottles and that was it. He drank from the Sippy with no question. But if he didnt I would probably do what your doc says anyway.
We are still in the process of transitioning...but one thing I had to get used to was that they will be drinking a lot less milk than before...at least in the beginning. But once LO is eating solids, they don't need milk as a meal. But it was hard for me to not have DD taking 6 oz bottles....she is now down to the morning bottle and bed time bottle, which we'll just start phasing out, I guess. My pedi told me cold turkey too!

This. I think cold turkey is easier on the LO's...like ripping off a bandaid. Just get it over with instead of making it a long, painful process.
Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless
For those of you that transition cold turkey, is your LO already holding the bottle on their own? My DS refuses to hold his bottle, and just plays with it and gets milk everywhere. I'm not sure how to do any of it with him!

My DS never once held a bottle on his own.
