DD wants to sit on my lap and starts fussing sometimes when I BF. I'm trying to think of ways to keep her occupied while BFing. I turn the TV on and she has her toys out but she just wants to bug us. It's tough because it's painful right now and I just want to be able to focus on BFing to get through it. Any tips?

Re: How do you keep toddler occupied during BFing?
I just play with him or read to him. But I'm also blessed with a newborn who is both a good latcher (so I only need one hand) and fast (so we don't have to sit long).
You might also try nursing in a ring sling to be a bit more hands free.

When I was in the hospital, the LC told me that when she had her 3rd child she got her older two boys a special toy that was just for breastfeeding times.
I EPed for the first 6 weeks and when I was pumping, I would give DS my extra breast shields to play with. He would pull up his shirt and put one on his belly button and laugh. It was adorable and kept him occupied. DH wasn't such a fan of my methods but they worked for me when I was home alone with both kids!
