Before I got pregnant, I thought it was a little weird that people kept their positive HPT, but now that I'm in their position I'm feeling a bit reluctant to throw mine away. Right now it's just sitting in the box it came in under the bathroom sink and I'm not sure what to do with it. I don't want to throw it away, but I also don't want to construct a shadow box and display it in my living room.
Anyone have a happy middle ground for what to do with it?
Re: What are you doing/will you do with your positive HPT?
I threw all 5 of mine away! I used the internet test strips so I couldn't really cover the part that you dip into the urine like you can with an FRER.
I don't see a reason in keeping it. The memory you have of it is growing in your belly and you will get to enjoy him/her for the rest of your life.

This!
Take a picture of it and throw it away.
You can put it in your baby scrap book and you have documented it with out keeping it.
omg. this.
I kept mine around for a day or two. It was digital, so after that time, the battery died and the screen went blank, so I threw it away. Had it not been digital, I probably would have kept it around for a few weeks then threw it away. I suppose you could put it in a memory box for the baby... with the bring-home outfit, first toy, favorite book, etc.
LOL at the shadow box idea! haha

I took a picture, but just of the word pregnant, not the pee-part. It wasn't nearly as gross to do that IMO.

~All AL'ers welcome~
they are not gross if you didnt pee on them. I peed in a cup and dipped them. Once they are recapped, there is no pee anywhere around them.
I do agree that it is crazy to keep them, but I was in such disbelief that I decided to keep them until the u/s. Then I felt weird throwing them away and I forgot about them. TOday, I told my husband that after the amnio results, I will toss them.

For me, after seeing so many negatives, it was such an amazing thing to see a positive test. I know that I have multiple ultrasound pictures, and will have this baby but there is something about finding out that we were starting on that journey that makes me nostalgic about the tests.

This is what I did . . . the same night I took them. It is time to throw your old urine soaked sticks out, friend.

THIS!
I think I probably spent $1000 on HPT's and they all were negative, for a few years all I saw was Not Pregnant, so when I finally saw pregnant, I took a picture and threw them away after the batteries died...It just finally said yes!
I still have all 4 of my positive ones (2 from DS, 2 from this time). Gross, I know, but they're waaaaay back in the cabinet under the bathroom sink.
I feel the same way you do. After see a million negatives I was in TOTAL shock to finally see a positive! I was so excited I took 5 more just to be sure it wouldn't "change its' mind". LOL! 2 of the 5 I took were digital and I tossed those after the batteries died but I still have the others. I agree that it is a little gross and I certainly won't be breaking them out at any parties to show off but I just can't part with them. In fact just the other day I took one out a looked at it and it made me smile...and almost cry because of the hormones. LOL! But I really was just so shocked/delighted to have finally gotten a positive one!
Exactly this, why would you even consider keeping a pee stick?

Same here! I had seen so many negative tests I was in shock to see a positive!
Same here. When I see them, I think, "Ewww, gross" but then put them back and carry on. I took pictures so have no reason to keep them. It's just old pee soaked trash... yet, can't put them in the garbage just yet.
