Anyone else getting fat in the hips/thighs/butt

Oh M Gee.

Despite only gaining 3 pounds total, I cannot even pull some of my regular pants up over my hips, thighs and butt.  They are so tight. Oh and my belly. totally fat too. I swear it's about 3 inches more around then it was last month.

All the pregnant ladies I know in real life continued to wear their pre-pregnancy pants throughout the entire 9 months (just added a bella band).

Ugh, I feel like SUCH A FATTY.

I'm already borderline weight wise-- size 10.  I thought that I would at least get to save my ass, thighs and hips since i'm already kinda chubby.

Is anyone else having this problem?

So depressing.

Lastly-- is this a boy symptom or a girl symptom? Everyone tells me something different.

  • I cant fit in my pre pregnancy pants anymore.  Not because of my tummy... I cant even get them up that far.  Once I hit the knees its like my thighs and butt are waging war on my pants.  My sister is 18 weeks and can still wear her pre pregnancy size (she wears her pants low and now they are below her stomache) and she is laughing at me for busting out maternity pants already.

  • My formerly ample love handles seem to be diminishing....I'm pretending that's where my first trimester weight loss came from, but I think it might actually be that the rest of my waist is expanding to the size of my love handles. I've not been able to wear my pants since that early bloat, with the exception of a couple low-riding or stretchy pairs.

Well shes also 19 and a little more concerned about the style of the pants than the comfort.  She swears all maternity pants are hideous but she was over last week and I had on a pair.... she thought they were super cute and wanted to buy them too until I pulled up the waistband and she saw that stretchy waistband.

Oh okay, well 19 years must be more resiliant.  I watch that show 16 and pregnant and half of those b*tches are still buttoning their regular pants at 9 months b/c they wear them below the belly. No fair!!

  • I can't wear my jeans anymore, and haven't been able to since around week 8.  My thighs and hips are pretty huge too, and my hips were wide to begin with.  I've been living in leggings and yoga pants because I can't find maternity pants I like yet.  I got flared jeans because that's what I normally wear- and they looked awful.  I usually wear lower jeans too, and the bella band looks ridiculous on me.

I always thought the hips and thighs getting bigger were a girl "symptom", but who knows... I think it also has a lot to do with my body type- I'm 5'2" and was pretty thin before getting pregnant... this is where I usually gain weight...

Maybe it will redistribute to my belly :-)

I've been in maternity pants for a couple weeks and I  thought my butt was fine.  I am down 8 lbs and thought I was looking decent.  Then I just really looked at my  HDBD pic and my butt is huge!

  • My hips/thighs/butt have grown a lot already.  It really depresses me and I'm not looking forward to taking DS swimming any time soon.  Normally I'm fine showing off my body in a bikini and I'd still be fine showing off my midriff, but my lower half disgusts me.  I haven't fit into pre-pg pants for a few weeks now.  A couple weekends ago, a friend gave me a bunch of maternity clothes and I'm worried that I'm going to be too big for all of the pants within about another 2 weeks.  These are the clothes she wore through her ENTIRE pregnancy and I'm not going to fit into the pants beyond the first tri.  Crying

It terrifies me too.  I gained 50lbs with DS and now I already feel huge.  I'm worried I'm going to gain more like 70lbs this time (and I started at 118lbs, 5'3" so even 50lbs was a huge % weight increase for me).

I don't think it's a boy or girl symptom.  I think it's a body type/build and in my case, lack of exercise & eating more calories than I burn symptom.  Are you a curvy pear body type?

Nope.. not pear shaped at all.  Thankfully, I carry my weight really well usually and have a normal type build.

There goes that theory :)  I've got a pear shape body type - I tend to put weight on my hips/butt/thighs first & my upper body stays really thin.

I haven't been as active as usual. Prior to preg I was doing step aerobics, zumba and running 3-4 times per week.  Now i'm only walking on the treadmill for 1/2 hour almost everyday.
