(Venting)
My Dh and I took our 2 y.o. to the emergency room last night (first time) because he woke up in the middle of the night having a really hard time breathing. It was very scary, but ended up just being croup, which isn't too big of a deal. Just sounded scary and had me in a complete panic at 1:00 a.m.
So, I call in to work sick today. I have taken four other sick days this year. I decided to check my work email while my son is napping. My boss sent me a reminder that you cannot have more than 100 hours of sick leave taken in a rolling one year period. Apparently, today put me up to almost 70 hours. I don't know if that is correct or not until I go into work and check, but I have to say that I'm kind of irritated/stressed out over it. I didn't think that 5 days this year was terrible, especially because three of them were because DS had hand, foot, and mouth disease.
I guess the other thing that ticks me off about it is that I"m management. I certainly put in more than my 40 hrs per week without additional compensation (which I knew was the deal when I took the job), but that doesn't seem to matter. I don't even know why I'm complaining about this here....I guess I just need to complain.

DS -- 3YO
I agree. Plus if it sick hours or PTO hours that you are using then I am sure that you have earned those hours. My boss is like that too. She has a 5 year old but her mom has always watched her so she never had to deal with not having child care if her daughter was sick. Even on the rare occasion she would have to take time off for her DD she always acts like that is her right but no one else can do that. Anytime that you call in sick she makes a huge deal out of it and makes you feel like she thinks you are lying about it.
What a *** thing to do. Excuse my french but weather you are using PTO, Vacation or Sick days, that's what they are there for!
You're not 12 where you need to be reminded of how many hours you have left. I would be annoyed too.
When are bosses going to finally realize that happy workers means better productivity, more efficiency and less turnover? Good Grief!
(can you tell I hate being micromanaged?)
That would irritate me too! Especially since you do put in extra hours and to find it when you are home and taking the time to check your email!! Some managers are just like that and feel when anyone calls in they have to "state the rules" again and pull that card. But I am like you and do extra and hardly ever miss so to call in and be treated like that is so annoying!!
I am sorry you are going through that! And I hope your son feels better soon!
We have a John who is 25months old! We mostly call him Jack though!
what an a$$. You know what you are doing is
1- right from a parental point of view
2- within the rules of your office. Sounds like she is kust out of touch with humanity! Don't let her get to you!!!
GL and I hope your Little One feels better soon!
