Baby weight - Vent

I think I spent my entire pregnancy convincing myself that once I had the baby my body would instantly go back to ?normal.? Boy was I wrong. I lost about 30 of the 45 pounds I gained in the first month after I had DD. But I seem to have hit a lull. I am still wearing my maternity clothes because A. the stretchy pants are way comfortable and B. none of my pre maternity shirts fit. My boobs have a mind of their own and are huge! I HATE them! Not to mention the stretched flap of skin that seems determined to remain on my stomach. Every time I tell my mom how much I hate my post baby body she replies with ?it took you nine months to get that way, give yourself nine months to lose it.? I am back at work and do not have time to hit the gym. I would love to take walks behind our house but I live in Wyoming and we still have 3 feet of snow in our front lawn. Indifferent

How is everyone else loosing their baby weight? Is anyone else struggling?

Sorry for the vent!!

Re: Baby weight - Vent

  • I've lost 20 of my 35lbs but am still restricted so I doubt I'll loose anymore any time soon. I had a c-section and have a HUGE hematoma that you can see so I have extra loose skin and a big swollen spot... I'm trying to remind myself that I gained slowly and loosing it will happen eventually. Having a baby with colic is enough to worry about.

  • I'm with your mom on this one.. give it some time! :)

I understand what it feels like though - none of my pre-pg shirts look good right now. (They were all pretty form fitting!)

Fear not! Loose, flowy shirts are in right now!  haven't been out shopping yet, but I have done a lot of browsing online. Almost all the shirts I've seen are very forgiving in the mid-section. Maybe you could go buy a few new things to get rid of the blah feeling?

  • I've lost 25 lbs of the close to 40 I gained.  Thats basically just from giving birth and breast feeding so far.  I really haven't been trying.  I was sore from stitches and what not at first and then honestly I've just been lazy.  Plus we don't have the snow, but its been crappy here, cold and rainy, and we can't get out.  I am pressed for time with LO screaming every time I sit down to eat, so I usually don't eat much or eat crap because its easier and fast.  I am so ready for the weather to get better so I can be motivated to wear my regular summer clothes and get out and exercise.  I go to the dr next week for my 6 week check up so I hope that will inspire me to get the ok to exercise and get back on track.  No more excuses after that!

  • I could have written your EXACT post! I have been so depressed about not only the 15 extra pounds, but the stretch marks and this hidious line I still have down my flabby belly.  I have always been thin and now suddenly I'm looking at dresses 3 sizes larger. That's the other thing-my brother in law is getting married in a month.  I have to find a dress that doesn't make me look huge because I'll be in pictures. Ugh I totally feel your pain.

  • I'm totally with you!  I've lost 22 pounds of the 35 I've gained just from giving birth and breastfeeding, but I hate my belly flab and yes my boobs - I HATE them!  I used to think I wanted bigger boobs - but ugh, they are just so uncomfortably big and yes - no shirts fit me!

I think I'm going to look into what PP said about big/flowy shirts and invest in a few to make myself feel better.  I want to get back to working out and I thought I'd be taking walks daily by now -but it's seriously been raining every damn day I've been out on maternity leave!  I can't get out of the house!

  • Thanks ladies! I am glad I am not the only one that feels this way! I ordered some new clothes last week so I am just waiting for them to get here. Hopefully they help cheer me up!

  • Lost 30 of my 40 :/ I just started running again today (30 minutes every other day) to try and kick start the last 10 lbs off. I had to order 3 pairs of fat pants for when I go back to work next week :( Hopefully what they say about bf'ing is true and that helps melt it off!
