Potty Training

Tell me if you think we should try potty training

DD is almost 21 months. She tells us when she poops and sometimes says eew and grabs her diaper even when it is just pee pants. She loves sitting on the potty. This past weekend I put her on the potty a few times and she peed twice and did a little poop once (then she pooped more in the bath). Last night I had her on the potty and I couldn't hear her going but she clapped and said good job, I checked her bottom and it was wet, she had gone pee! Then we sat there and every time she dribbled pee she would clap and I would say good job you went pee.

Do you think she is close to being able to be trained? She can take her pants and her diaper off (which is her new favorite thing to do after I leave her room at night)

  • Sounds like she's ready. It's worth a shot. Just make sure you are ready too. Once you start, there's no going back. (without confusing your kid anyway)

  • I think DD was around the same age when she started telling us when she pooped.  I though she was ready then, but she never went like your LO is.  I never attempted any further cuz I was pregnant and didn't wanna introduce too many things to her at once.  I agree with other posters, don't turn back once you start.  We have had things come up since we started in January (major things), and we just had to put it on hold.  When we did and then started back up, it was like almost starting over.  It's been a long process.  Good luck!
