Night sweats for nursing mom?

I've been exclusively breast feeding my DD since she was born, she is almost 11 months old now.  Every morning since she's been born I wake up in a sweat.  EVERY morning.  I've been thinking its hormones, but now it's kind of got me worried.  I mentioned it to my doc a while ago (at my post partum visit), and she said it was nothing to be concerned about.  But I am concerned since it's been going on for so long.  Has anyone experienced this?  I also weigh less now than when I did before I was pregnant (by about 5 lbs).  I thought this was due to the fact that my DD is still a hungry little girl, but I wonder now if something is weird with my health.  Any thoughts would be much appreciated =)

Re: Night sweats for nursing mom?

  • I experienced night sweats for the first 6-8 weeks, but then it stopped. I heard it was due to postpartum hormones and was normal, but I don't know if it's normal for it to last for 11 months. I'd call your OB and ask.

  • DS just turned 10 months, and I also get night sweats most nights. It's terrible!  Some nights, I think it may just be because I have him sleeping on my arm after his 5am feeding, but other times he is in his own crib.  I haven't asked my doctor, but I have heard that hormones don't completely go back to normal until you wean.
