Napping question

Where does your LO nap?  My daughter does not nap on her own, only in the Ergo or KP.  Night time she does great - sleep most of the night in her crib. But during the day, all she does is scream.  I am not willing to "nap train" her as I don't think screaming for an hour weeks on end just to get her to nap in her crib is something I can live with.  I don't really mind holding her - gives me some down time to just be and I love cuddling.  But I can't imagine doing this when she is older, bigger and I'm pregnant.  We'd like to start trying next year so I can't be carrying a 2 1/2 year and pregnant. Just wondering a) if I'm hurting her by only carrying her on my back and b) if nap training is the only way to get her to sleep alone?

I held DS for all naps and as he got older have slowly transitioned him to nap in his bed.  I nursed him to sleep and then was able to leave him.  I got a floor bed for him though so I could just pull off and roll away.  I thought i was going to have to hold him forever, but one thing I have learned as a parent is that they always change!  I would just keep trying to see if she will go down in her crib every couple of weeks.  She just may one of these days!

  • I hold DS for his naps. I feel as though when he is ready to sleep on his own, he will. I am not willing to 'train' him so that he does so on his own. It is a personal decision. I enjoy the cuddles. I know that he's not going to want to cuddle when he's 17, so I should enjoy it while it lasts.

Have you tried putting her down once she's asleep?  I was still wearing kiddo to sleep at that age but would put him down once he was out.  That transitioned us to him being able to go to sleep in bed (actually, he let us know when he was done being worn to sleep).
