When is/was your 1st u/s?

My midwife practice doesn't do u/s as a rule (they don't have the capability, so they are done elsewhere). If you request genetic screening, they schedule an NT scan between 11-14 weeks. Same with bio-physical profile mid-pregnancy. Otherwise probably just to date a pregnancy if there's any question, or if a h/b is not found on doppler.

I had my intake appt. today and mentioned that I was a bit nervous given my previous m/c. She said they could schedule a u/s if I wanted that reassurance. I'm tempted. Otherwise we'll have to wait until we (hopefully) hear the h/b in a couple of weeks, and then the NT scan between 11-14 weeks.

I'm 8w 4d. Part of me just wants to treat this like a "normal" pregancy. But I'm curious what is standard for most OB practices. Do/will most of you have early ultrasounds?

My doctor gives me a u/s every time I go in for an appointment (every 2 weeks until I hit 36 weeks). My first was at 6w1d. My second was today at 7w6d. I'll also be getting the NT scan at 12/13 weeks, but that's at the hospital, not at my doctor's office.

My first was at 6 weeks for dating purposes and because I had a previous loss. My insurance pays for all u/s that are ordered by my doctor. I don't know if she will do one at every visit- I go back on May 20th so I'll find out in a few weeks.

I had one at 6w3d and one yesterday at 8w6d.

Normally at my practice it is one close to 7w, 11w, then 18w and that might be it.

My first u/s was today and I measured 7 weeks. Normally my Dr doesn't do u/s earlier than 12 weeks but there was a big disprepancy between my edd (I was charting) and theirs (based on LMP). I won...or at least I was closer than they were. He wanted a dating u/s or the NT scan could be too early/too late.

Optional NT scan around 12 weeks, but they bill that as a screen, so some insurance doesn't cover it. The only required one they do is the 20w anatomy scan.

My first will be the NT scan around 11-12 weeks. Then I'll get the anatomy scan between 18-20 weeks. Those should be the only two unless something comes up later in the pregnancy.

I will have one on Thursday - we are currently with an RE. I don't think my Ob is quite as aggressive about early imaging.

i'm 8 wk 4 days too! my pregnancy before this one was a m/c too...my first u/s was today. the u/s eased my worries and the baby looked fabulous!

I'm 35+ and am with a specialist so this may be why they chose to screen so carefully. I had my 1st u/s for viability at 6 weeks, another at 7 weeks to see the heartbeat, a doppler scan (unscheduled b/c I was in the office anyway) at 8 weeks to hear the heartbeat. I have others scheduled for 12 weeks and 18 weeks.

My "first" u/s is scheduled for next Wednesday, which is a dating u/s because of long cycles. I will be 7wks based on my charting calculations. I did get an earlier u/s last week because of spotting. Not sure when they do them beyond that as this is my first pregnancy to make it this far and I haven't had my initial "meeting" to discuss what will happen yet.

I HAD MY FIRST U/S AT 6W4D IT WAS A TRANSVAGINAL ULTRASOUND CAUSE I HAVE HAD A PREVIOUS MISCARRIAGE IN JANUARY. MY INITIAL OB APPT IS TOMORROW AND I GET ANOTHER ULTRASOUND THEN TOO. I WILL BE 7W6D......

If I hadn't had complications, my first u/s would have come with the 1st tri screening at 11-13 weeks. For those that opt out of the NT scan and have no complications, they only get one ultrasound at 20 weeks.

Mine will be a dating u/s on Friday...after that I am not sure how much more I will have.

I have my first dating/viability ultrasound on May 12, which according to my LMP will be about 7 weeks, but I think it will be closer to 6 weeks due to my longer cycles. I've had a previous miscarriage so I'm not sure if this is the normal timing for my doctor or if it is moved up due to that fact. They had my betas run twice, which was not done in my first pregnancy.

I've had two already (dates below) and will have one more before I hit 8 weeks. Of course, that's protocol with my RE. I don't expect to get one before 20 weeks once I - hopefully - graduate to a regular ob/midwife practice.

Ditto. With ds, we ended up having a total of 5 because of a kidney issue they were keeping an eye on. Hopefully, this time there is no worry like that and we just get the one, though I did enjoy seeing him often.

I got one yesterday because I had two days of spotting bright red.

Then I won't get one until 20 weeks or so (my midwife doesn't really believe in the NT Scan unless we push for it).

My first appt and u/s will be at 8w2d. I think they wanted to schedule around 8-10 weeks for the first prenatal appt.

mine will be 8w2d. i actually moved OBs, i was uncomfortable with my old office not doing one til the NT scan (if chosen), and the office staff was really, really rude. my new office does them between 8-10 weeks, 11-13 weeks (NT scan) and then an anatomy scan. i had the option of having my bloodwork/pap/etc. at a separate appointment, but i chose to keep it with the u/s so DH could be there for the entire first appt (history, etc.).
