It seems that ds isn't as in love with is sister and the only thing I can think of is that she's now able to drag herself around and touch his stuff. He's not as wanting to help her or happy to see her in the morning like he used to. He's even a bit rougher with her and will do things like tell me to stop feeding her or stop holding her.
I thought he'd be good to go now that she's been around for almost 8 months. But I guess she's even more competition or something that she's her own person now.
Anyone else go through this with their LOs?
Re: LO#1 less thrilled with LO#2 now that she can move?
I'm hoping it will be the same for them. Maybe I'll have to try to have him play with her more, even though he gets freaked out when she touches his stuff.
yes, when DD started to move, Finn felt threatened by her. It was short lived though since she now crawls fast, he thinks she is playing a game and runs away saying "Eva's gonna get me!" its funny. They have unspoken games and she'll play peekaboo behind the ottoman and he'll find her. Its cute. He is still annoyed when she touches his stuff, but I make sure he knows we share all toys and encourage him to play catch (with a soft ball) or bring her a toy she loves etc.
It'll get better. Its only a phase
My DD is just about to start crawling and pulling up (I think! lol) and it's been the same way in our house. Just wanted you to know you put the biggest smile on my face with what you shared about Eva "chasing" Finn and the peekaboo game. I soooo look forward to those moments even with the hard ones mix in
YES, that is when things got really bad with Lilly. She would hit and push Owen all day long. It was awful for several weeks but it did pass.
Someone on here suggested making a little space for #1 where #2 wasnt allowed to go. I made a "fort" for Lilly by just pulling a couch out from the wall and and blocking it with an ottoman. It was her space and when she didnt want Owen to touch her or didnt want him playing with one of her toys she went in the fort. It helped immensely!
Great idea!
Thanks guys. It makes me feel better knowing it's normal and that it passes.
