Wait, *I* have an ear infection?!? WTF?!?

Despite my doctor's assurances that ear infections are not contagious, I just found out that I, just like Will, have an infection in my right ear. WTF?!

I haven't had an ear infection since I was 8 or 9 years old. My congestion wasn't even that bad with this cold, but man this sucks. I could barely sleep last night my ear hurt so badly. I totally feel for Will, not being able to tell me when he's experiencing this pain.

Mommas - give your LOs with ear infections an extra hug for me. This sucks!!

    Must be a sympathy infection.

    Ear infections are not contagious but they are inherited - so I guess now Will knows who to blame for his pain. Stick out tongue

    Riley's first cold at about 6 months turned into an ear infection for him and when I got it I got the same ear infection. My Dr said it have been because I didn't use a decongestent (sp?) since I was BFing.

    I get them all the time, I hate them, they are so painful. I hate when your ear gets all plugged and everything sounds like you are under water!

    I'm sorry! I've had a couple since Toodle was born (prior to that I had one around 22 years old and otherwise not since childhood). I think it's less that they are "contagious" than it is that mutant daycare germs are worse than what we encountered before kids so more likely to fester and result in infection. I've also had about 3 sinus infections since having Toodle (and having him in daycare), versus ZERO in my life before that.

    That sucks. I have chronic ear infections until the age of 26 so i totally understand- I finally had ear surgery 5 years ago and haven't had one since. They have been keeping a close eye on Hayden but at this piont no infections for him yet. ::knock on wood:: Maybe he got dh's ears.

    I have a malfunctioning eustation tube that led to 25 years of infections. My surgery was to repair ear bones damaged over time. I am now 30% deaf in my left ear.

    Oh wow, that sucks. I'm so sorry! My complaints pale in comparison. :(
