Where to get good running/jogging shoes?

I think this has been posted before but I couldn't find it. Right now I walk on the treadmill at the gym and I think I need to get some better shoes. I have no idea where to even look for good running/jogging shoes. I would prefer to go someplace where someone with some knowledge would be able to help me.

Do they have a fleet feet near you? I went and got fitted and then took their advice, did my own research online for the same kind of shoe, and bought mine at kohls for about 1/2 the price (or more!).

I need to do this too. I have such a hard time justifying spending the money on myself. It took me nursing for a whole year before I treated myself to being fitted for and buying properly fitting bras!

I LOVE Road Runner Sports in Concord. Their customer service is amazing. They do a 20 minute analysis of your running stride and personal goals. They then recommend various shoes that would best fit your needs. You then get up to 60 days to run in your shoes to make sure they really fit your needs.

Fleet Feet and Sports Basement will also do a similar analysis. Different return policies but always awesome customer service as well.

Running Revolution is the only place I'll buy running shoes, because I feel like they really know what they're doing when they fit a person (and I've heard that Fleet Feet has the same excellent service- I have NOT had that experience at Sports Basement, though).

It's in Campbell, I don't know where you're located. But well worth a visit!

If you know what you want but just want to price shop, Big 5 has great sales on running shoes and Nordstroms Rack you can sometimes find good running shoes on clearance but that is more of a rare occurrence.

I agree, I have had really good luck with certain inexpensive places such as Big 5. You do have to look for the quality of the shoe there, expect to be there...an hour atleast trying each and every one on though...lol

I went to Runner's Factory in Los Gatos. They looked at my feet and old shoes to see how they were wearing, asked about any problems I was experiencing while running, then had me try on a few pairs and jog around for a bit while they watched my stride. I ended up initially buying a pair that they didn't recommend because I liked how they looked better (silly me!) But when my feet were killing me from them a couple of weeks later they took them back no problem, and I got a pair that they recommended. I've stuck with the same brand/style for the last 5 years now. I also found the prices to be pretty comparable to other retailers, but with the service I would have been happy to pay more - I've always had a difficult time finding good shoes. Granted, this was 5 years ago, but I would definitely recommend them :-) Good luck!
