Thinking some people have no filter...

So I come in to work and see my boss and I haven't seen him for about a week and a half because he was out of town at training. Before he says hello to me, he says "Wow you are looking pregnant today"!

How do I even respond to that?!?! Uh...thanks ?? I know I've been slowly packing on the pounds but geez. Plus he says this after I come in and sit on a chair on the other side of his desk where he can't even see my belly. So is he saying my face looks pregnant?

Okay, I just had to vent.

Today one of my coworkers randomly told me that it didn't matter that he referred to my two kids as "child", as "one of them is gonna die."

So yeah, I feel ya on the "no filter" front. (I think he was trying to make a dead baby joke. He then tried to cover it up by mentioning that all his kids die every time he plays Oregon Trail. Um, alright...)

My biggest peeve is when everyone at work asks if I am tired, even when I am not, then they just reply "oh, well you kinda look like it". um, thanks for telling me I look like crap! Tongue Tied

There was once a time where telling someone they looked pregnant was cause for celebration. It's sad to me that people don't want to look pregnant when they are. Still, I'm sorry you were insulted.

I think its the way/context its said. The few times that was said to me it was fairly obvious they were trying to find another way of saying "wow you look HUGE" not in a "look how cute and pregnant you look" nice kind of way. I also noticed it mostly from male co-workers (the few that new better than to say "wow you got big"). I agree, overall, it is a cause for celebration. I also totally understand how it feels to have people make negative comments about your weight or looks while you are pregnant that make you feel bad about yourself (I had people make some of the most inappropriate, mean, and downright insulting comments about how I looked while I was pregnant).

^^This exactly. It wasn't a joyess "Wow you are looking pregnant" type of thing. To even further his comment he jokingly put on these fake bottle cap glasses and said okay that's better, "you look great!" I know he totally means it jokingly but still it hurt my feelings. Plus his wife just had a baby less than eight weeks ago and talks about how she is still chubby. Really?!:! At least she had a baby and has a reason to have a little extra pounds on her.
