City mini safety straps

So, these red straps you are supposed to snap on and off before you collapse the stroller--do you do this?

I don't want to be a negligent parent, but I sort of just want to leave them unsnapped.  It doesn't seem like the stroller is going to collapse on the kid if they are not snapped.

What do you do?

  • Is this a new thing with the 2011, because I don't think my 2010 model has them?

Maybe, because I didn't notice them in the store.  They are red straps with snaps on them that snap around the legs near the seat.  Once they are snapped you can't collapse the stroller.  So then you have to unsnap them again to fold the stoller--kinda ruins the "quick fold" technology we were so in love with, although it isn't that bad.
  • We don't---it doesn't fold with them snapped....my favorite feature.
  • my 2010 has them, but I haven't used it yet.  I guess it's personal preference, but I feel if they are there, they must be there for a reason : )
  • I dont think we will use them until DD is old enough to potentially try to do/fold it herself or climb in and out herself.

This. Right now we are using the attachment bar for our carseat and we don't snap them.

  • I have one and so far I have been snapping and unsnapping them, because I'm such a rule follower.  It is quite annoying though, because it defeats the whole quick fold process.  Good question.  I hope to see what others do.  It doesn't seem like it would self collapse without them snapped, but I guess they put them there for a reason.

This is me. The instruction booklet made it seem like using them was majorly important.

  • Ours are silver? Red must be new. I never used them with my first. Just keep any eye out if they want to climb into the stroller themselves. My daughter used that strap to try to pull herself into the stroller once and it did start to fold. But it folds the wrong way so it's not like she would have gotten her head stuck in a folded stroller... just took a tumble on the grass.

They are on all the models I've seen (2008-2011). Basically they are there to ensure it can't be folded with a child in it, but essentially the stroller can't be folded with a child in it anyhow (since you have to pull the strap under their butt to do so). I don't snap/unsnap mine.
