I'm an oldie. My daughter is in elementary school. I volunteer for their art program. I'm one of 20 volunteers who teach art projects in the classroom (no funds for a real teacher). I was asked to be the co-chair for the program next year. That means I'll get to order art supplies.
I posted over on TN craft board to ask for ideas on where/what to order. One of them mentioned that her area had a place that gave free stuff to schools. Of course, it was California, not here. Do you know of any programs like that? Do you know of any businesses that use art supplies that might have surplus to donate? The range of things the kids use = clay (they have a kiln), ceramic glaze, watercolors, acrylics, drawing paper, fancy paper, stamps, cutouts, pens, markers, pastels, glue, tape, pipecleaners and all sorts of little artsy crafty things.
Let me know if you have suggestions for places that I might find things inexpensively or free.
Re: Art supplies - leftovers and freebies?
That's really great that you do that.
I was trying to think of smaller owned art supply places and thought of this place by UW:

And this place that's near Pike Place:

At least I hope those are the businesses I'm thinking of - I took a few art classes in college and bought a lot of supplies back then but it's been awhile. I have no idea if either of them do donations but you could certainly try!
