I've always done it based on how long they've been awake. Eventually, their schedule often becomes so consistent the clock time is nearly the same every day but I still based it off awake time more than anything. Still waiting for T to figure out that consistency part...
Thanks! He's doing well...still trying to get this nap thing down though. He's getting better, but still taking a 45 minute nap pretty consistently. The only way I can get him to sleep longer is to pick him up when he cries at 45 minutes, rock him back to sleep, and let him sleep on my lap. Obviously that can't happen every day! Would love to get together again...maybe in a few more weeks when I'm out of school?
I put N down based on her cues. If she acted tired, she went down. I also based it on how long she had been awake. So if she was up really early, her naps would be earlier...if she woke up late, her naps were late.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
Usually we go by how long G has been awake but I also look for sleepy cues. There have been a couple of times where G has only been up for 45 min. and he was exhibiting major sleepy cues. I didn't hesitate to put him back to bed even though it technically wasn't time since he hadn't been up his usual 2 hours.

I don't know if you are anti-CIO or not. Gavin sometimes cries out at the 45-50 min mark but he isn't actually awake. If I go in there, it wakes him up and it is really hard to get him back down. However, if I leave him alone, he cries for a minute or two but falls right back to sleep.
When is your school year over? I'm definitely up for a get together. We need to do a big Sacramento one or something. I'm working again, but from home so my hours are flexible.

I'm not anti-CIO and I've let him cry, but it seems that if he cries he wakes himself up. Maybe I just need to wait a bit longer...who knows?
I'm done with school on June 2 and then going away for the weekend (alone...eek!) but after that we are free any day! What are you doing for work? So nice to be able to work from home...I'm jealous!

Who knows is right! I feel like I am still just grabbing things in the dark some days.
I'm working as a consultant for an online mathematics program. It is mainly curriculum writing and assessment development. Luckily, I get to make my own hours. I work as much or as little as I am able. My 1st deadline is the beginning of June, so after then would be great for me too!
Where are you going? It will feel great! Mommies need some me-time. I think it recharges you and makes you even more appreciative when you get back.

That sounds awesome. I have a friend who does the same type of work. She's looking for openings for me. I'm still waiting to see what happens with my pink slip. Ugh!
I'm going to back to Tucson for a girlfriend's wedding...I can't wait! I get a hotel room and big bed all to myself...ahhhh!
I do it based on when P wakes up, and also if he seems sleepy... he's still inconsistent with his wake-ups but it's fallen into a pattern of somewhere between 6:30-8:30am, yeah!!!
"Oh come on Gromit, a bit more, you know... alluring!!"

Enjoy your time away. You will get to sleep as much as you want in that big bed!
Boo to pink slips. I got my job through a friend. I'm thinking good job vibes for you.
Re: Nap Question
I put G down based on when he wakes up.
How's your cutie pie doing?
