My son likes to drop his drawers outdoors

I'm thankful that my mom helped to potty train my kids but when they are at her house and outside, instead of coming indoors to pee, she has them drop their drawers outdoors. It's gotten to the point where every time DS goes outside, he wants to go pee on something. I'm afraid of him trying to do this in public or on my vegetable garden.

Has anyone run into this problem? How did you get your son to stop? Or do some guys just never grow out of this?

  • Well, I don't have kids yet, but my husband is 36 and still highly enjoys this. Stick out tongue

  • Oh boy.  It's a tough habit to break. My nephew was taught this exact same thing by his "other" gramma (not my mom).  He used it at my dad's 60th birthday party while 50 people sang happy birthday, he was out side sans pants peeing on my dad's lawn.  Can't imagine he'll live that one down any time soon!
  • My son thinks it's quite a novelty as well.  It's reserved for camping or to avoid an accident at other outdoor events (car shows) where the port-o-johns are occupied or locked bathrooms at the park.

My father is pushing 65 and says " a man's greatest joy is peeing on his own lawn"Huh?.  My boys pee outside all.the.time.  At home I could care less if they pee outside while they are playing and have never made them come in to do so.  If we are out and about they both know that we make every effort to use the bathroom inside stores but I often pull over on the freeway or parking lots when a kid is screaming he's got to pee and can't hold it.  For whatever reason in my head the age at which I think it's too old to freely pee in public is 5 but it's not a big deal in my book.
