Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Is your 2 month old on a schedule?

DS2 isn't really on any set schedule yet.  I mean he has the 'sleep at night, awake during the day' thing down, thank goodness.  But as far as his naps and eating having any consistency during the day, there's none.  And he doesn't take his last nap of the day at the same time, which makes it tough to get him to bed at the same time each night.  Sometimes he wakes up from his last nap at 6pm and sometimes he falls asleep at 6pm!  I know he's still a little baby so I don't mind it, but I do look forward the day he has some sort of schedule so I'll be able to plan to do more things for DS1.

No :(... We used to at least follow an eat, play, sleep pattern, but that went out the window with the 6 week growth spurt, and after a few napless, crying days I gave up on trying to get it back. I hope our little ones fall into routines and schedules soon!

  • We are but I have an insanely strong body clock and am anal about a schedule and my children inherited it from me. My daughter wakes up every day at 7am not 6:55 not 7:05 7 it sounds crazy but true. DS isnt that accurate yet but for the most part his "schedule" fluctuates no more then an hour. I didnt set it he did.

  • He's on a loose schedule/routine of his own design.  Wake at 630 -7 then eat, play for an hour, then sleep for 2-ish hours.  He repeats this throughout the day until about 7 when he clusterfeeds until 930 - 10.  Then he sleeps...sometimes through until 4, sometimes he's up every few hours.

  • I WISH!!!! Question for you ladies... my DS typically will eat between 5:00pm-7:00pm. Then I give him a bottle (breastmilk) at 10:00 pm. Between this time he gets really fussy should I try to get him to cat nap or just hold out. His sleep habits are all over the board. I am a first time mom and no clue how to handle the evenings. HELP!!!!
  • Pretty much this (except she gets up between 7 and 8.

     My daughter is 8 weeks.

  • Sorry, messed my post up.

My daughter wakes between 7-8. She will eat, play for an hour, then sleep for two.  We do this all day and I cluster feed at 7:30 and 9:30.  She then sleeps until 4-5.

     She is 8 weeks old.

Give your son the bottle earlier and put him to bed earlier.  He's getting tired before 10pm.  No need for a catnap that late at night, just give him the bottle and put him to bed.  I learned this from our pediatrician with DS1:  whatever time your DS likes to wake in the morning, put him to bed 12 hrs before that.  So if he usually wakes up at 7:30 or 8, try putting him to bed at 7:30 or 8pm.   This will avoid him getting over tired and setup a good sleep routine for when he gets a little older.

  • Yes, he is and has been since about 6 weeks old. And here is my disclaimer: I didn't put him on one, he did it himself and I am SO THANKFUL. I did want to follow the EASY routine and he just does it on his own. It's wonderful. He always goes to bed between 8:30-9:00pm, always takes a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon, etc.

  • She has sort of set her own schedule. She goes to sleep when my husband does at around 9 and sleeps until about 8:30- 10 (depending on the day and what we have going on). She takes a nap around noon and then is pretty much up the entire day until bed again.
