Teacher Appreciation Week, anyone doing anything?

I was thinking of taking each of M's teachers something on Wednesday. Anyone doing anything or have cute ideas?

Oneof the moms collected money and is buying spa gift certs for our teachers. And then she suggested on Tuesday to cut out a flowers and write something the child likes aboutthe teacher on it. Then Thursday a similar thing but what they have learned from The teacher. Then Friday will be the gift certificates.

I am a teacher that is from a family of teachers. Please no knick-knacks. We get tons every year and they just collect dust. I personally would love a book for the classroom library or a game something like that. Or a gift card for shopping: personal shopping or school supplies. :-)

That sounds awesome!

Two years in a row nothing has happened at my school, and I think it's tacky for me to remind people that it's Teacher Appreciation Week! But - at your school, if there are teachers that you appreciate, just a sticky note or one little piece of chocolate with a thoughtful note attached saying how you value them is wonderful to receive! It can be a pretty thankless job.

The bolded part is the standard of gift giving at my former school. The room mom would collect money from the parents that wished to participate, and then she would go and purchase a large gift cert. Each year I taught, I would get a $100-150 gift card to InSpa. Additionally, parents would send their kids in with small gifts or notes. The spirit of giving was alive and well in that community, and I always felt appreciated. They even did this on my birthday!

I agree to forgo the trinkets. I would either donate them or throw them away. There is only enough room for crap on one's desk and bookshelves. I love the idea of purchasing a book for the school library. In addition to Sbux gift certs, Barnes and Noble or Borders are also great options.

ETA: Hand-drawn pictures and cards were enough to make my day on TAD!
