I wish I could tell you my secrets, but I'm honestly not sure what it is. I've gained 22 lbs so far. I don't feel like I'm going crazy eating. I try to eat a balanced diet and avoid too much "junk". I've tried to increase my protein intake and drink milk every day. Ice cream is a good idea too. You could even make milkshakes! I also think just frequent snacking every couple hours helps keep the calories coming in. Snacks like nuts, cheese and crackers are good. If you haven't already, Dr. Luke's book on multiples is very informative on diet and nutrition.
1 packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast - i like the no sugar added choclate- 5 gram protein
a banana and whatever fruit i want
plain Fage yogurt - 18g protein or a chobani (14-16g)
Its close to 40 grams of protein and probably about 400 calories.
I also ahve ice cream at night and i snack during the day. An apple with peanut butter, cheese and crackers, hummus and vaggies or pita chips, cottage cheese with fruit.
I made myself a turkey sausage and egg breakfast sandwich almost every morning.
I ate a lot of peanut butter, cheese and almonds.
I drank whole milk and carnation instant breakfast for second breakfast.
I had second breakfast, second lunch and second dinner. Sometimes second dessert, too.
I'm probably one of the few MoMs on here that hated Dr. Luke's book with the fire of 1000 suns, but I will concede that her recipes are tasty and high in protein.
Unable to even.

I had a hard time gaining weight, also. I lost 8lbs in the first 8 wks and didn't gain anything back until I was 20wks due to severe nausea. I only gained 18 (plus the 8 I originally lost) for the entire pg. Being pregnant made my metabolism go thru the roof. I am a sweets person, so I had lots of cookies, donuts, etc. But for healthier stuff, switch to full-fat dairy (ice cream, milk, cheese). My OB said eggs were the perfect protein, so lots of those. Peanut butter, nuts, avocados are good also. Don't stress if you are having a hard time. My peri was never concerned, and said it would be me that suffered, not the babies. They will get everything they need! Just eat what you can and what sounds good.

Thanks for this, I never thought of using my instant breakfast in a shake! I usually get strawberry, which would be great to add with bananas!

I am having a difficult time gaining weight too. I lost a lot during the 1st tri and up until 3 weeks ago, didn't gain anything other than the weight I lost back. My doctor was concerned and told me to up my protein intake. Since then, DH has been making me protein shakes with his chocolate protein powder (he's a fitness/health freak. I'm not sure what kind it is.) and ice cream. I have one in the morning, and one in the evening. It's helped---I've gained 9 lbs.
When my friend had to gain weight she ate ice cream at night and also scrambled eggs and homefries in a tortilla with some salsa or cheese each morning. She made a few on the weekend and put them in the fridge - heating them each morning while getting ready for work.
My weakness is ham and cheese melt with mayo, on english muffins. I love anything in a melt...=) Strawberry Boost is good too, and alot of woman drink protein shakes..Muscle Milk is a good tasting brand.
Re: Gaining weight..
milkshakes, cheesesteaks, prime rib and a loaded baked potato, macaroni and cheese, fettucine alfredo, protein shakes.
These are a few of the things I ate to help pack on some pounds. GL
Peanut Butter and Jelly!
